One of my friends from work came over earlier in the week. We'd planned a night of horror movies.

She had with her a graphic novel that I'd wanted to check out. As I was in the kitchen pouring some iced tea, she announced from the living room "I brought over Preludes and Nocturnes."

I emerged from the kitchen, with a very confused...

dholokov:

The Sandman rules. It is the only comic I ever followed. Some people mention it in the same breath as the Watchmen but I think they are sadly mistaken.

I recently got an ATI Radeon 9200, which I am quite enjoying. I'm sure you know this already, but Canada Computers in that area is one of the best, if not the best.

dholokov:
Yeah, the size and service of Canada Computers leave something to be desired.

As said above, the Watchmen is good but not as good as the Sandman. The comic book community thinks that its fabulous because it has superheroes who deal with each other in a mature, sophisticated manner, but I think that should be a starting point, not an end in itself. They way I usually put it is - people who really like comic books will like the Watchmen. Those who don't will like the Sandman.

...and it gets even better after preludes and noctures. the Doll's House is just creeeeepy.

I really need to get cable. Well, what I really need to do is start leaving the house more. But knowing my distaste for all things "outside" (there are, after all, bears outside), cable might be a more feasible option.

I also need to start writing more music again, but that's a different issue.

I've been bored this week. REALLY bored. This is hard to...

I ordered the parts for my new computer today.

I'm giddy.

I can't swing that $2000 soundcard I wanted.

But aside from that... this thing will be a beast and a half.

It's a good day to be a geek.

But I'm really bummed about the breakup lately.

You win some, you lose some, right?

I made it out to Toronto yesterday, rescuing my guitar from the shop (which, after a rocky start to the process, came through delightfully). It's so wonderful to have it back again.

Most of my Toronto crew was otherwise engaged, so one of my friends offered to come along and co-pilot, and we were going to try make some SF Con that was going on...

Things are better today.

Most of the drama has cleared up.

I got too drunk last night. Sweet Jesus, why did I think that last round of Irish Car Bombs was a good idea? skull

Trips to Ikea make everything better. I haven't given my friend a firm answer on moving into his place yet, but the few pieces of furniture I picked up yesterday were...

Oh, what is an Irish Car Bomb? Sounds fun! wink

God, I want an Ikea in FL. I can't wait until our trip to Atlanta so I can buy stuff at the Ikea there (I just won't allow myself to order online and pay shipping).

Hope you have a lovely weekend!!!

Oh boy! Everything's turning to shit again!!!

In other news, my landlord earned NO fucking points by letting me know he was showing my place this evening on forty fucking minutes' notice. So I ran up here, gave the place a panicked once over (I am Jack's messy apartment), and waited... and waited... and waited...

And nobody fucking showed. ARGH.

Oh, and then there was...

You should get in your car, drive to Toronto on a day when Dogslife and I are available, and we will make you feel better.

Count on it. *

*Actual satisfaction not guaranteed, but--c'mon, let's get real here--we're pretty damn fun.**
**Clarification: Dogslife is funny, I am fun.

I'd spell your name on my license plate.

I miss the girl. That part sucks.

I still see her several times a week, and things are still really cool with us. That part's good.

She just got a cat. I'm massively allergic. That part sucks.

It is a nice cat. I'm also more allergic to it than anything else on the planet. Yikes.

I had surgery unexpectedly today. It wasn't anything major... I was just expecting to see my doctor and have him hook me up with an appointment for a specialist and have that be that. Turns out - not only was it something he could do in his office, it was something he could do RIGHT THEN.

Eek!

And no, I'm not gonna tell you what...

I'm now quite convinced that my car stereo is eating CDs. I'm not happy about it. (Can you even imagine how hard it is to tell for certain that a Beta Band CD is skipping?)

Why can't I find a car stereo that supports DVD-Rs and reads mp3s?

4.7 gigs of mp3 files in my car stereo at all time, with my masters safely at...

Yes, if you're repeatedly running over your car stereo with your CDs in it.

Okay - here's the quick and dirty.

First of all, I was in error when I thought my tickets had magically become for closer seats. I confused aisles and rows, and was centre stage, 19 rows back, just by the lighting board. That's not to say you shouldn't hate me, though. Despite the pit being much bigger than I remember, I still had kickass seats....
