New birds picture! The conures are about 16 days old. I'm not sure which one will be ours, but one of these sillies will come home with us. So excited!!!

The tree out back know they've been in a battle today, and they lost! Sure they fought back and got in a few slashes, punctures and one twisted elbow, but in the end, they were taken down! (see what I did there?) 1.5 or so hours later, I'm exhausted. The crows were out cheering me on, and a few squirrels flung things at me, and...

I'm telling you, who would not love this little thing? No, we have not been able to pick one out yet, just hoping soon.

In other news, the carrot pieces are still there. No wildlife here seems to like them.

As the crow experiment continues, they like Cheetos more than Cheez-Its, and definitely Cheez-Its more than carrots. Still, it seems to be the peanuts in shells that bring them to the yard.
Other than that, I miss feeling useful.

Note to all, squirrels, crows, doves and assorted other birds were not amused by the switch from Cheetos to carrot shreds.
Not. Amused.

Okay, gods, I survived the latest massive migraine. Suspect the culprit might be a med I take every 3 weeks.
The hunt for a reputable bird breeder for a conure continues.

So what is everyone planning for Valentine's Day? I'm making ricotta and mozza cheese rolled in lasagna noodles and smothered with homemade spaghetti sauce. We will probably snuggle on the couch and watch Penguins: Spy in the Huddle. This will celebrate our 29th year since our first date.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Day 12 of crow-xperiment is going well. I've been throwing out unshelled peanuts on the walkway (they make noise that crows listen for apparently) and they are finally starting to come around and eat them. So today I put more on the wall that they like to perch on to entice them further.

I feed the jays peanuts. They've been coming around for years now. The crows seem to really like dry cat food.

Sending lots of love to you all. Christmas decorations are slowly being taken down. They have been sequestered to the ballroom now, so the spread has been limited. Quarantine boxes are being set up and they are being filled, waiting until they are opened to spread again.

Background: My Mother told my Dad he was not allowed to bring up politics or religion. She and my brother's wife told my brother the same thing. This is because my Dad loves to rile things up with this (knowing Karen and I do not agree with his right-wing beliefs) and my brother gets a bit aggressive and goes off like a bomb with these...

Yep.  The Girl Scouts was one of the few pieces of my social life as a child in the Bible Belt that didn't involve Jesus or prayer.  If anything they're a bit pagan since brownie scouts were named after a certain type of faerie.
