Amtrak is evil.
My train was supposed to leave NYC at 9:30PM and get in to Prov at 12:45AM. At 3:30AM I hauled myself and my luggage up college hill in the rain. The birds had already started their pre-dawn chirping. Christ.
TWICE we stopped in buttfuck middle of nowhere CT because there were stolen cars left in the middle of the tracks.

where do you stay when you in to NYC to work? a friend's place? Otherwise it must be ungodly expensive to go down there every week to work...
I am still in NYC and kids, I am tired of this town. Let me go back to my own bed and joblessness in Prov, even for just a few days......
More on my return, promise.

Back to NYC in the morning. This is good for a million career reasons. Bad because I do not have the patience to wait until Saturday for
1. my new phone
2. my new glasses
3. more SG! (I like the new Hel set very much.)

Wow. I don't know what other NIN fans think, but I think that the Johnny Cash cover of "Hurt," and accompanying video, are amazing.
That song hasn't stirred up those kinds of emotions for me since I used to listen to it on repeat for hours on end as a very screwed up teenager. Pretty astounding to see someone give it a whole new life...

I *am* a designer, i swear; i have my own studio and everything!
When i finally get around to getting my eye exam, i'll post my new frames, you'll have to judge if they're appropriately designerly.

besides, i'm originally from chicago, home of few lumberjacks.

In the last two weeks so many of the very bad things in my life have magically cleared up while I simultaneously thought that my world would fall even farther apart.
This makes me quite nervous, but my karma really has been terrible for the past year, so maybe I'm finally done doing my penance for whoever it was that I wronged (3-fold law and...

I hope so! Maybe you should buy some lottery tickets while you're having that run of good fortune.
I have what might be referred to as "serious commitment issues."
Just over cell phones. Really.
A wee bit later:
I am now shopping for covers for a new cell phone with a new plan that I don't even have yet. I can't even commit to just one color, dammit!

Ohmygosh, earplug, where did you go? I've never seen an SG member just vanish like that. I think it's scary!

I like the American Pie movies. The first time I saw the original I laughed so hard I almost peed.

i can't wear contacts, i have too many other eye problems. Luckily, no longer looking at CRTs (only flatscreens now, woo!) keeps them under control. But i am getting a cool new pair of frames in a couple weeks too. And American Pie certainly had it's hysterical moments.

which would you rather be in 5 years, a designer, design instructor, or chef?
Back. Finished for now. Very tired. Slept like the dead on the late train back from NYC. Everything went very well.
Wish I was going back next week. I liked that job.
The girls said they have some good headhunter freelance contacts in NYC that they will pass my way.
For now, though, it's really surreal to be back in Prov and underemployed again
