She and I have the same birthday. Aw yeah.

When I was going to school in Bonn, there was a giant poster of her from Der Blaue Engel in the train station I arrived in for school every morning, and I really wanted to bring it home with me. Alas, it had been plastered to the wall and was un-peelable.

I think the air in Shanghai is flammable. Good thing I don't smoke.

It was nice to drink coffee and have sandwiches though.

I bought pygmy 2nd row tickets to go see uber-violinist Gidon Kremer for her birthday and took her out for Italian dinner in the French Concession for our 1 year anniversary.

We also met a lovely old man who will be repairing...

That doesn't keep it from being awesome! And like I said, it's a geek thing, which means that about 90% of the people you show it to will be very impressed. wink

Illuminati is fantastic, and a classic of the American gaming catalogue. It's also beloved of AcidGrampa and GarageDelFuego should you be on the west coast and looking for opponents.

Fluxx, unlike Flux was never to my tastes. The effect of the individual cards played is excessively abstracted and random, IMHO.

How many players would you typically get together with? That's a key question, as many of the best games are for 3-5 players. If you get outside that range, the recommendations change. Genre tastes and preferences for complexity in your playgroup would also influence the recommendation.
baudot:
Apples to Apples is pretty unique.

Agricola, Le Havre, and Space Alert all go from solitaire up to 5 players, and are popular, award winning games.

Just watched Synecdoche, New York.

Fuck, this movie is devastating.

Like a modern day version of Last Year at Marienbad. Except sadder.

Quite. It's currently ranked #3 overall at BoardGameGeek.com, which is a fairly accurate indicator.

Oh man, that movie destroyed me. It was lovely, in its way.

Just got back from Yellow Mountain. Bright Summit Peak is over 1800 metres high. That's a lot of stone steps. (My legs hurt) Many kilometres of walking up / down mountain steps.

Pictures to come.

pretty much. Don't listen to what i say. You dont want to stay in Prague forever so for you there is no point to worry abou these things. I'm sure that if you come here you will enjoy it and meet a lot of fun people.

Last night I was propositioned to either a) join two guys to have sex with prostitutes or b) have sex with two male prostitutes. Due to a language barrier I can't be sure. This happened while I was in my apartment. (I know) We're next door to a spa/bathhouse kind of place and for the first time one of the windows was open as high...

Your neighbors have a nice set up there.

Aspirations? I've been wanting to go to med school for more years than I care to recall. I want to get involved in world-recognized medical research. I want to make a real, lasting impression on the world. Is that too much to expect of oneself?
kaffeine:
Seriously. It was pretty humbling, too. Makes me want to go out and be a Good Samaritan.

Waking up early from night terrors. (my girlfriend's abandoned me in a bizarre tiny NYC hotel room, I have someone else's face, my lips are bleeding, skin peeling like a sunburn, and I don't know what's going on)

Make some black coffee.

Write some stories.

It's adorable. It's new, and different from other games in design and play, therefore it has some issues; but it tries to do something charming and original, and in this it succeeds.

Plus, it's always a bonus when my husband gives me that look from across the room when I yell, "No, George Washington, don't attack ME with the harpoon gun! Fine, I'll ride the goat! See how you like that!"
