As for the whole, "I'm not married and pregnant with five kids" bullshit, it's a good thing you aren't in that situation. You're not ready. Sure you could settle and find someone to marry you and knock you up, but who would you be in five years? A bitter woman with a kid. Next time your friend wants to show of her kid, ask for its papers. Kids are not little ponies you trot out to impress your friends. If they can't understand you want adult time, don't go. I know that's harsh, but if they really wanted you, your voice would be heard and they'd make an effort to realize, "Oh yeah, there's a world outside of having a family!"

Even at my age, I can't fight my emotions. I can bawl at a moment's notice - always have been. When one of sons starts telling me about his students (he's a Sp. Ed. teacher) and their problems at home, I can't hide my teary eyes. Some of his stories are heart wrenching. I don't know how he can manage a job like that, but he has that special heart.

I'm not judging here @ all. If you don't want kids, just make sure you get your shot every 12 weeks until you hit menopause. I know more than one gal that's doing it and that's what works for them. Kids aren't for everyone...and not everyone is capable of the responsibility of being a parent. Do you realise the sacrifice it takes and what you have to give up? Oh man...not to mention baby-sitters, looking for good schools, trying to mold him/her into a better version of you, seeing them graduate high school, seeing them get their PhD down the line...then envision yourself on a cruise around the world w/ your kid footing the entire bill because they're making a load of money @ their job.
