Thought I'd cry for you forever
But I couldn't so I didn't
Thought I'd see your face in my mind for all time
But I don't even remember what your ears looked like

And the clock still strikes midnight and noon
And the sun still rises and so does the moon
Birds still migrate south and people move on
Even though I'm no longer in...

[For whatever reason you refuse to feel this space we're in, to know its insanity, really know it; whatever your particular anesthetic is, that you hold onto so desperate (the thing, I mean, that makes you think you know who you are); whatever that thing is you allow to keeps you sane, your ace in the hole, the psyche that keeps you trying to guess...

Let It Ring

"When you march stand up straight.
When you fill the world with hate
Step in time with your kind and
Let it ring

When you speak against me
Would you bring your family
Say it loud pass it down and
Let it ring

Let it ring to Jesus cause he sured be proud of you
You made fear an institution and it...

With ivory skin and boycott lessons
Year after year.

Well I'm tracing your face up in the space of the bottom bunk,

I knew I was trading on things that I didn't have,
The things that I didn't have.

Now you come to me

Thanks for the lovely comment Miss Kriss! Yeah my Grand Mama basically raised me. She used to take me from my parents house alot from the time from when I was a baby to right up until my parents essentially made me an orphan and I then would just spend alot of my free time with her. And finally when she was getting ready to leave this world, I spent every waking moment with her, taking care of her, feeding her, making her teas that she told me how to make, and finally giving her the IV pain killers when she had her night terrors and pain. We also had a round the clock nurse named Malika from Jamaica who was an absolute angel, But I was the one who took care of her in her darkest hours. And braided her hair night after night.

I take directly after her in so many ways, I have her same face and body type, and her same dark sence of humour and basically almost all I know about things having to do with my heritage I learned from her.

She not only passed on her religion, but her wisdom and her power. She may have lived in a tiny little cottage at the end of a road, but she behaved like a queen, and taught me that no matter where you live, if you are the Lady of the House, you are queen of that castle. She also taught me much about black history, and my ancestors and pale skin or not, where I really came from. Alot of people can tell right off that I'm mixed but alot can't, They just say I look "exotic" HA! confused

I have visitation dreams from her when I need her strength and guidance about important decisions. I also know that she is always with me in spirit. Her husband was English and she and he were as devoted to each other as juno106 and I are, He brought her to England shortly after they were married in the late 1920's. She was a big time Jazz Baby/Flapper back in the day, And because she loved my Grand Papa so very much, she never even considered getting remarried after he was shot down and killed in WW2. She never moved either, she always had a place set for him at meals, and a portrait of him over her bed, and another on her altar in the parlour that I made sure was burried with her. I guess towards the end of her life, Raising me up right in her traditions was her passion. She loved soul music and jazz and even funk and disco, and taught me all about dancing in a graceful spiritual manner rather that just shaking a tailfeather.

She was an all around wonderful strong beautiful tough woman and I thank God for her everyday. Even if she did scare the Holy hell out of everyone else she came across. Hehe. I find myself becoming more and more like her every day. Death is simply a veil that separates us. I just hope than when I meet her on the other side, I she'll be proud of me for keeping her traditions and ways.
Peas,
DV

Sorry about the novella, she's just really strong in my mind right now, and insomnia has struck me again...

Ambiguity: the state of being understood in more than one way.

I walked out this morning
It was like a veil had been removed from before my eyes
For the first time I saw the work of heaven
In the line where the hills had been married to the sky
And all around me
Every blade of singing grass
Was calling out your name
And...
