i actually already called one of the big bosses a dick in a conversation i had with my boss. i got in big trouble, he wrote me up. which is stupid because my boss called one of the chicks who is our co-worker a cunt, which i find to be far more offensive then dick. anyways i've learned to hold my tongue and yell about it on the internet instead

I used to get those too... Mine were related to past trauma, though.

This is a basic Yoga Pranayama Ujaye practice that works for me, only takes 5-10 minutes a day:

Stand firmly with you feet rooted into the ground, shoulders pulled down, sternum up, butt slightly tense, (Mountain Pose in yoga).

Now take a deep breath starting with your throat, but let it go all the way down to the base of your spine. Fill your whole body with breath. Keep your tougue on the roof of your mouth while you do this.

Exhale in the same fashion.

Once you have that down, on the inhale, raise your arms skyward AFTER you have started the breath, pause at the top, looking upward, and then begin the exhale, and lower your arms downward to the original position.

As you do this, visulize warm, receptive energy up the front of your body coming from the top down on the inhale, and rigid, steel, strength energy coming up your spine on the exhale.

What you are doing is building a strength that is receptive and a receptivity that is strong.

Put another way:

"A Heart of Gold with a Spine of Steel"

If you dedicate 5-10 minutes a day to doing this practice, things will become more clear.

You haven't let me down. Quite the opposite.

Perhaps you're letting others set goals for you that're too high? Or maybe you're punishing yourself by setting impossible tasks because you know afterwards you'll feel bad?

I'm afraid I cant help with the whole "helping others" thing. I view things for the most part in a "Howard Roarkian" way. There should be nothing wrong with being selfish. Animals are another story though, I can relate to animals much better than people. I dont really like people.
Being selfish can in fact ultimately help others, which can be good. I hope once I get where I want to be as an Architect, that people will want me to build my way...for them. Most of the clients I have dealt with are not for me, nor am I for them. Music can be viewed in this way. I actually went to college for Music, before Architecture.
I believe the human spirt needs to be nourished first for self, and once that is achieved, others can be affected in a positive way.

Mothers will be mothers. Mine thinks I am totally incapable of doing anything responsible. It's kinda nice to have their approval on certain things, I imagine letting her know that SG is ok and not how she imagines it'd be one of those. I'd let her take a look at the place. That might convince her.
