I went onto campus for the first time this year yesterday. It was really weird, I got all nostalgic, after I realized that this'll be my last year here.

I talked to my physics advisor about stuff, and she recommended my checking out the University of Michigan for automotive engineering (It makes sense, but I had never thought of automotive engineering). I didn't think that...

Uh. I think I should visit Portland before I Uhaul all my shtuff there. I just don't think it would be a good idea not too. But maybe it'd be too much work.
Dude, as long as automotive engineering doesn't equal dirty car mechanic, go for it. I hate the way they make me feel like an idiot for not knowing anything about cars and being girly. Fuckers.
ginacherry:
HOLY COW..you had an earth quake....wait..it was central cali...still...WEIRD HUH???...the mountain over here is gonna blow soon..IC an feel it...oh well...study hard...smile

Heyyyy.

So, I'm back in LA. I got home sometime early Saturday morning. I drove straight through the night and was very very tired. But thanks to my good friend Coca-Cola and Mr. Monster, I was good to go. It's almost surreal being back, it's like nothing much has changed, but that's how I guess it should be, there wasn't really much point for anything...

"The bottom just has to follow your order" you write?

ginacherry:
Are you on the QUARTER system down there in UCLA?

So, I've given up on amateur mechanics.

I dropped my car off at Halsey, they have it now. I don't care about the money anymore, I'll just get it done. That's all I want.

So, I'm still in Oregon. Oh well.
ginacherry:
When is school going to start? I thought you were still going to UCLA?? Any chance for some good weather this weekend down in PDX?

I don't see why it's something we have to do. It's something we've told ourselves we have to do, but I don't really think we do. We could leave right now, and I bet we'd be okay. You'd go make sushi and I'd go make bread and we'd both be happier for it.

So another totally broken car? Fun fun! Congrats though, it's pretty cute.
venice:
Heh, yeah I have moments like that too. I guess we just suck. And I have to go because my computer is about to die. It wanted me to calibrate the battery...

Alright. This mess is coming to a close. I woke up at the not-so-bright hour of 5:40am. I drove straight with one stop for gas to Seattle. I was hungry at this point.

I got the cash, some food, then the car, then mashed back to Portland as fast as I could. I dropped off the car at Tyler's, where a new clutch was awaiting....

What's Seattle like, by the way?
Gah, I'm so tired I can't even speak, or type, or whatever. I just wanted to stop over and say hi.
Anyway, yay for your car getting. *Wonders what a clutch is.* Gaha I'm so car-uneducated.
venice:
Meh. I don't want to be in school anymore. I just want to go and live in a little apartment with my cat and work at a bakery and not have anything to do when I come home. Why can't I do that? Because for some reason this bullshit is important to me, and at some point in the future I might want to do more of it. Bleck.

I figure I'll just wait until tomorrow night to post something meaningful. Later

I'm not checking out the fire dancing today. I had 2-3 hours of sleep last night. Had to be at work at 6am. Time to sleep. Night, night. Enjoy working on your cars and everything else.
ginacherry:
NO- Do it NOW!!! smile HI

So, I think I've reached a fairly good point in geek-status by achieving the fourth-ranked google search result for 'hotpockets'

Gotta love forums and journal pages, with so many links to this page, it's good.

My VWVortex profile is much much lower, like... 40th or some crap like that.

It's a go on Sunday, we'll see how this car turns out. If so, I might...

With a name like Venice, that'll never happen for me frown
Too many stupid hotel links and stuff.

Twins in the driveway? What kind of car do you have, or are you getting? Awesome geekyness. Are you going to the firedance thing on Sunday? It's at dusk right?

You know what else you should check out. Menomena Saturday night at the Crystal Ballroom. That show is going to rock my fucking socks off and I'm fucking stoked. Can't wait till tomorrow. 9pm, $5 to get in. Cheap for an awesome band!

Alright, so I didn't get to Seattle on Wednesday, but I'm gonna try again on Sunday, we'll see what happens.

I'm working right now, but I don't have any runs, so I get to chill and update you guys with my life. I went to the Wednesday Munch, followed by a workshop at Ember's called "Knife Play: What's the Point?" It was about non-cutting knifeplay...

Oh and we might be heading to Port Townsend this weekend, if Aradia decides he'd like to go. There's a big kayaker gathering up there all weekend.
ginacherry:
Man, I am so bummed that I didn't get to spend anytine in PDX this summer. Maybe there will be another great bout of weather before school starts- *sigh* I doubt it. ANYWAY- maybe I will go down there to pick up something tax free? smile

I'm going to Seattle on Wednesday to pick up a car.

I went to two play parties this weekend.

Went to court today.

Big stuff in the last couple of days.

Venice: We need to get sushi before I go.
Sen: Portland is amazing just because it's so convenient to get anywhere. There's great people, great areas of town, great views. It's your home, come....

... no traffic... how?!
In Minneapolis I had a horrible time finding places to park, figuring out where I was going and what I was doing. I am not a confident driver and I get very nervous. I still have trouble going places in La Crosse at times. I'll definitely have a vehicle for as long as this one works, so, I'd be driving.
Tell me more... Minneapolis had a lot of garbage, lots of random graffiti and lots of derelict buildings. The town was just ugly, and you absolutely do not leave your windows rolled down or your doors unlocked. Is it like that in Portland?
arcanite:
You are welcome for the inspiration. I'm glad that I inspired such a cool person. smile You know that you can always chat me up, or send other curious people my way to chat. It's great to be a resource! wink

Wow,

That's all I can say. I had a really great night. Chickmunk knows wink

OK.. So Minneapolis isn't somewhere I want to move...
You mentioned Portland was good... what makes it good?

So, I want to buy this car up in Seattle, he lowered the price to $1,200 cause of a bad clutch, not too bad of something to replace--then I'll have a new clutch too! I might be able to get it for $1k-even.

This is really upsetting and exciting. It's exciting, cause I could easily have a working car to take down to UCLA. That...
