So it's finals week and as soon as that is over I'm flying to SC to spend the holidays with the fam whatever. Not sure if I'll be able to blog from there because they are crazy southern baptists and god only knows how many blockers they have on their internet. But don't worry...I'll be thinking of you smile

So in worm news land...My prof is...

Hey hey! Good luck with the grant applications... It's always some sort of russian roulette, but let's hope you get it!

In any case, I look forward to hearing all about your analysis!!

Excellent article! I had not considered the "weather" part of a cave system in the ways you describe; barometric pressure, humidity, etc. Makes me wonder if there have been any caves that have been fitted with long term weather reporting gear, not counting cave systems that have high human traffic.
Thanks so much!

Honestly, I was just stoked to see "twilight zone" used in a scientific paper. That was a pretty damn awesome read, by the way. o_o

Just another example that people in the third world don't need our "help" they need our respect and a chance to make it on their own. They are MORE than capable of it. I just know that there are many more where he came from and thousands around the world. <3 DJ Focus!

Small and light is expensive :/ the closest to your price range I could find is this one "lenovo IdeaPad S400 (59342932)" at 499.99 can be found at www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834310635.

If you can put up with a normal size laptop "ASUS X53 Series X53E-RH31" can be found at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230571 for 339.99.

I recently got an Acer Aspire 5749Z-4706. It's pretty respectable for a cheap laptop. My only real complaint so far is that they didn't make any cuts in the chassis for anything except the battery. So, if you want to upgrade/change out the hard drive, memory or any other component, you have to unscrew the entire bottom cover. If you can live with that and the large screen, it's not bad. The price seems to have gone up a bit since I got mine, but there are bound to be more sales. http://www.buy.com/prod/acer-aspire-as5749z-b964g50mikk-15-6-led-notebook-intel-pentium-b960-2/227013323.html

Applying for NCUR (National conference for undergraduate research) again this year, but this time for biology. Here is my abstract, what do you think??

Naegleria fowleri is an opportunist parasite that infects humans, and other mammals, causing a very rare, but almost always fatal brain infection, primary amebic meningoencephalitis. The criterion for initiating tests for N. fowleri in a water-body is based on temperature, leading...

Sounds fascinating! It seems more people are living in closer proximity to volcanoes as urban areas grown, even in lesser developed countries. Research on the post-event effects of living near one would seem like an excellent area for study.
Good luck with your study!
And do I have to say you're proof science can be sexy?
cersei:
thanks!
I'd love to see you again as well.
If you ever come back to Europe, you know you have a bed all ready for you at mine! smile
I read your abstract and it looks like such an interesting thing to study, I hope you're enjoying it!
