When my kitty was young, she stole one of my plush animals... And though the toy was larger than the kitten,it became hers, and for ease of naming it we always called it kittie's dolphin. I love the story about your kitty and her dolphin. That fucking rocks my heart. I guess I like it when such a classically detached species shows a streak of attachment to something (a bit like the same way i like dogs who display some serious independence). This is part of why I like cats who are big talkers, who occasionally take a lot of interest in communicating with people. A long time friend of mine has a very very old cat named Ginger. Ginger is amazing - she lives more in her-own-little-world than any other cat I have ever met - she doesnt even like to be seen by human beings. But then she has these spells where she'll urgently reappear - but just to talk - from a few yards away - as if she, concernedly, needs to confirm that human beings still exist, or maybe its even as if she needs to confirm for herself that she is still capable of interacting with human beings, to confirm that she and they still occupy the same dimension, to confirm that she can indeed still be physically seen and heard by human beings - her family has learned to talk to her in that way - 'yes, Ginger we see you. yes, Ginger, you're here, we're here.' - content with the confirmation, Ginger disappears again - i think she has always lived a very fulfilling and fascinated life. I had strange dreams about cats last night, or, rather, dreams about strange cats. I think sewing is cool - I dont sew - but I think its very cool.
