Coral is a local and solid building material. Both granite and marble have to be pulled outta the ground somewhere else and shipped in. 80 something years ago, it'd of been more trouble and cost than it was worth. Coral was local and easily obtained.

Got to love it... making the volcano's high activity into a sales point. Sensible people try to avoid high-risk places, IMO
I'm sorry to hear about your school problems. I thought that if you had a recognized disability you could get allowances from your school in certain things, such as more time and such.
