Every day, I thank the good Lord above that I'm an atheist.

Ha! That's a really witty journal entry. I like it. biggrin

I've just been reading through your entry concerning Thanksgiving and the thought of someone's 80 year old Grandma doing an impression of a person on drugs really brought a smile to my face!! You have a cool Grandma (perhaps that was her way of telling you that she is secretly into drugs but that she can't find anywhere local to score and she was hoping you could send her some good stuff sometime).

I have to say that the picture of your 3 year old nephew giving it some with the Horned Hand is great!! The next step is to encourage him to do it when he is in church! wink

The best way to spend a Wednesday morning is not getting a colposcopy.

Edit: That's colposcopy, folks. My ass remained untouched.

Which one of you motherfuckers sent the tsetse flies after me?

I can't force myself out of bed, and I feel like I've spent the last 24 hours banging around inside some hotel-grade industrial-strength dryer. Earlier, I nearly passed out in the bathtub.

So, until the sleeping sickness has run its course, I'll be wishin' and hopin' for the good Lord to carry me home....

The pic, or my growing apathy toward my own brain?
mistersatan:
Thank you, dear- I also feel like we're running parallel ruts at the moment. And I'm glad someone likes my crappy journals lately, even if they mirror the crappiness in their own lives. I feel lately like I'd just be content going and grabbing a sixer of Black Label, a bottle of Jergens hand lotion, and the Denise Richards issue of Playboy and calling it a night. I know I wouldn't; in fact, I'd be kind of reviled at myself for doing such a thing- but something or other in my head tells me I should.

Maybe it's genetic memory; I have no clue. But thanks for sympathizing just the same.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might...

I feel tummy-sick.

I don't know if it's the election or my menstrual cycle.

I don't get emo. What the fuck is this?
I need to be held.

Last night was amazing; Against Me!, the Bloodbrothers, and Lucero all performed batshitfuckingmazing sets, and we rocked like tomorrow wasn't coming with old friends and new. However, a few folks in the audience needed some helpful tips for their next concert experience, so for the welfare of the general public and my own edification here are

WAYS TO AVOID GETTING INTO A FISTFIGHT WITH ME...

I once thought about writing a book detailing the intense mind/body connection required to wield a lit cigarette in a crowded room. I can say with pure honesty that I have mastered this with only minor damage to the skin on my palms. A Nicotine Ninja is not without his scars from training.

Back before it was even called a mosh pit, it was de riguer to have a smoke, a drink or both when pogoing like a pinhead. Even as recently as 2000, I was at a concert in Freiburg and it was almost expected of you to throw yerself bodily into the crowd with durrie in one hand and plastic cup of cheap beer in the other. Only losers spilled their drinks or burnt anything with their smokes. Kids these days don't have the right coordination for it. Sure they're good at other things but it ain't real punk, no more. wink

P.S. You rock, Flux smile

i thought you might be a braves fan. i am happy to see my red sox win a world series during my lifetime. if it went to game 5 i would have had seats. seeing the sox beat the yankees from a 3-0 deficit was greatness alone. sweeping the cardinals was just icing on the cake.

I was at the Waffle House with deckwreck this evening, and we were trying to figure out some suitably awesome last minute Halloween costumes. I don't have the month it took to put together something as rad as my Aeon Flux of two years ago, so it's got to be easy. Our best idea thus far is to steal another friend of ours and be...

col. sanders and wendy sound sweet! i can picture you as wendy and you could definitely pull that off. of course that aeon outfit is super rad though.

not that it really matters, but i'd go with "knowledge is power". it would take knowlege to figure it out in the first place so it's clever. plus i've always loved that quote anyway.

ps. sounds like you are a true sox fan, you loathe the yankees. i can't believe they have a chance at the title tonight. so stoked. smile

When you have to shoot, shoot; don't talk.

Addendum (2 October): I like proving to myself every once in a while that I am fully capable of living without the internet. Tuco would use a semicolon. Holing up in nobodysville does quite a bit for the productivity, by the way. It's just me and a pile of paper.

I love this song.

This afternoon I went to my local bookstore in order to see if I could find something on nanotech to whet my most recent appetite for information, but I had no luck and thus found myself in the science fiction section (where I inevitably end up during most trips to the bookstore). After picking up Perdido Street Station, which I have wanted to read...
