The Bad News:
- Tuesday: the girl wants to charter a sailboat for a week in Maine, in June. Fabulous! Been there, done that, liked it, would do it again, I'll look into it.
- Thursday: I'm laid off starting Monday. Probably till May...
- Kind of puts a crimp in the 50th birthday sailing adventure...
The Good News:
- The girl had asked me... Read More
- Well I thought I might get the bike out this weekend, because the snow in the driveway has finally melted. Even though it's cold, the roads are dry and I've got lots of sweaters. Yeah... Yeah...
- Maybe, secretly, I really wanted to go skiing...
- I learned how to roll my kayak last weekend. The girl had tried to teach me last summer, without actually knowing how to herself... So I spent most of an hour upside down in the water, blowing bubbles and trying to figure out what to do with my paddle! It was pretty comical! I'm way too cheap to spend $40 an hour for a... Glad you enjoyed the Colbert bit. You were the only one to comment on it, strangely enough. I find it an absolute HOOT! Laugh myself silly every time I view it. Love that hilarious little man.
29 F coming back home, on the bike, from "The Wizard of Oz" on the big screen. Brisk, but very tolerable for late November in the Berkshires! I'm really glad I have a fairing...
Three words.....
Double -oh-seven!!!!
Oh my goodness, that new James Bond is a vision of holy hotness! (and you're right, it was worth seeing on the big screen. The landscapes were breathtaking)
I bought the double trailer, to give me the flexability to travel to things like Bike Week, with a friend. It serves well as a single too, however. A friend and I went to Daytona for Biketoberfest last month . . driving to Daytona, and then having the bikes to ride the whole time we were there, worked perfectly for me.
I'm a licensed pilot. Although I've always been interested in flying, and have had several friends who flew, I didn't start flying myself until 1990. I owned my own airplane for several years - a Piper Archer. I'm also rated in Cessna 152, 172, & 172 RG. I sold my Archer several years ago (financial problem) and have rented aircraft at the local airport, off and on since then. I'm current on paper at the moment, but would require several hours of re-currency training with an instructor pilot, to be comfortable again.
Dude! You are up WAAAAAY too late! How the heck have you been?
(and seriously, you don't really want an answer to that "who/what/why" stuff do you? It'll bore you to tears, I"m sure.) I'll spill it if you really gotta know, but it's really just me being stupid.
And update your journal, for Pete's sake! You're about four months overdue!
The bro-in-law was in South Beach, on business, and brought home some real, yellow label Cohibas! So out to the porch, 26F, bundled up like two Michelin men we went. Strong hot coffee to compliment the strong stogies. Us, the quiet, the lingering, aromatic smoke... Very simple, very fine. Ahhh, the little things...
Hey splice, I have read some great things about that smith that you have...I would keep it if I were you, but let me know anyway. That Kahr is awesome!! I love it.
What are you up to this spring/summer?
I have a boat that I purchased late last season that I will be using if I don't sell it. Some guy want's to buy it from me. It's an 87 Larson Nantucket with a new drivetrain (4.3 V6 and Cobra outdrive). Do you know anyhting about it?? I kind of want to keep it, but I want some cash to invest if I find a reasonable piece of real estate to remodel. The cash would make that process easier, obviously.
Thanks for the nice welcome!
Sounds like the initial "unemployment euphoria" has yet to wear off. Savor it. Go man, go!!
And may I suggest:
