Oh wow ! Here in Scotland doesn’t look like it’s going to be snowing any time soon ! Last year we had some snow in April and May haha
budoviking:
@Paulinki- this is unusual here in North Carolina.  Supposed to be a good chance of a big El Nino effect this winter which will mean more snow. But this is very early. Climate change chaos...:-/  Scotland is on my bucket list...soon...want to do a motorcycle tour. Preferably without snow! :-)

Let Sir Elton get you in the Christmas mood. This video was recently unearthed from an archive where it had laid hidden for years. It is worth the watch. Enjoy!

Cool

Got the chance to catch the legendary Richard Thompson (maybe for the 4th time?) here locally last night. A 69, he hasn't lost a step. One of my top 5 guitarists. I could watch and listen to him play all night! If you have never seen him play, do yourself a favor a go to a show if he is in your town. He...

OMG Steve McQueen was so cool

A s a follow up to my Sept. 13 post- I was back in Surf City for the first time since Florence. The pier mostly survived except for the "hexagon" at the very end. Lots of damage to beach front properties. Clean up and repairs are coming along. People are resilient and time heals.

Thanks for the update

@matterz  What you don't see are the huge piles of debris that were on the beach during the early clean up. Most of that has been hauled off at this point.  The first house in the picture has been condemned as structurally unsafe. It won't be rebuilt.  What is missing from the picture is the front line of dunes that protected these houses.  They are gone now for these structures.  Not the case in all parts of the island, but here- not more protection.

Jimmy Buffet and Toby Keith made it famous, but Will Kimbrough is the man

marykitten:
Good!

@marykitten - glad you enjoyed it!

At the Carolina Tiger Rescue Center. Just down the road from where we live in NC. They rescue big cats from failed zoos and animal exhibits as well as private owners. Tigers, lions, leopards, mountain lions, servals, caracals, ocelots

littlejohn22:
OMG, that is so amazing, are some of them approachable?
budoviking:
@littlejohn22 The center has a very strict "do not touch" policy.  The only time a cat is actually touched by a staff member is when they are under anesthesia.   A lot of the cats arrive at the center very stressed by (crappy) human interaction. So the goal is to de-stress them and give them a good place to live out their lives.  In one of the lion photos you see the white tube- they are fed through that.  Meat "falls from the sky"  as the staff says. :-)

Tom Morello was doing a guest DJ spot I caught on the drive home and he spun up this

Epic Tribute to Nina Simone and others. This song nails it on so many levels. And Mavis still has it at nearly 80 years old!

littlejohn22:
Mavis Staples is so great

Got to see these lads from PDX here in NC last night. Great show. Played the entire Furr album- its the 10th anniversary- so they've matured a bit since this video was done.
