Stray dogs are baying at the edge of the roof.
For every vacant lot there is a blue streetlight.
In the razor wind two men in steel helmets
are welding the iron steps of the fire escape.
The snow swirls through the sparks of their torches.
Then it swallows the men.
Baring icy teeth, the dogs race down the fire escape,

....not that I was afraid to post a pic before. I just wish I had a cooler pic. I want to put together some costumed pics...fact is, this is the ONLY pic I have of myself on the computer. I was hoping to wait for something more representative. This one has to be 5 years old. I have (let's be real) less hair now,...

Hey Cheech, my friend! I hope your Valentine's Day went alright.
I'm glad to hear that the site is helping you feel more confident! I think I know what you're talking about, as well...something about people judging you for who you are, and all the positive reinforcement around here...it's quite intoxicating, isn't it?
Anyways, congratulations on the burgeoning self-confidence! You get out there and break some hearts!

Wow, you look an awful lot like a guy I worked with in college. I agree with the empowerment sentiment; I've gone through the same thing basically.
Alice is indeed a great flick, as is Conspirators of Pleasure. This one tonight was merely good.

It's funny, you can really tell if you've spent all your life afraid of a bunch of dumb stuff, particularly if you had a complex where you're worried if everybody hates you....wait a minute, switch to first-person...I'm so insecure, I wonder if like everybody on SG thinks my posts are long and stupid...but then I take a reality check, look how many people I have...

Whew, I've been on here all day...I've been waiting for a couple years for snow so heavy it would trap my ass indoors. Well, it's here.
I went out for about 15 minutes today. I walked out front to the apartment parking lot to my car. WAY to much snow behind the car to even think about going out. Plus the visibility was bad. Then...

Spring classes don't start until the first week of May.

Mission of Burma were a great post-punk band that came out of Boston in the early eighties. If you have any file-sharing software, I'd recommend searching out "That's When I Reach for my Revolver" (their best known-- half the bands on earth cover it) "Red" "Learn How" "Progress" and maybe "Trem Two"
Tickets are $20, though, which I wouldn't pay if I had ever before in my life imagined I'd get the chance to see them live. And it doesn't look like that many members will be showing up after all.
I'm enjoying going out and seeing all the shocked people dealing with the extreme weather. So few people are out, so few cars are on the streets, it's just eerie. There's an odd sense of kinship you get from anybody you pass: "I'm out in this, you're out in this!"
And all the snow-covered cars look like dinosaur heads-- bulbous and streamlined, but with random ridges and protuberances.

Van Gogh wrote to Theo from Arles:
"I must also have a starry night with cypresses,
or perhaps surmounting a field of ripe corn..."
Over which meteors would streak--
past Mercury, golden as a corn kernel,
and the Dog Star, haloed in blue--
to set the farm dogs barking.
The cypress, as he knew, is the oldest
variety of graveyard tree, cultivated
in Hell by...

Okay, I removed the offending apostrophe. That's actually one of my top pet peeves, so now I must cleanse myself of evil.
My other grammatical pet peeve is when people say "whom" when they mean "who." Not coincidentally, I think they do that because they're trying to sound smart!

The two peninsulas get along okay, but it's pretty much the entire northern part of the state (including the U.P.) against Detroit. Anytime we have a statewide election. ONE COUNTY in the Detroit area can outvote the entire northern and U.P. parts of Michigan due to population. This has totally fucked over budgets for the school systems and such.
The two peninsulas have drastically different cultures, and even the two "halves" of the lower peninsula are wildly different. I love this state for its variety.
I'm not going to expand on the differences because I've already taken over your journal.

Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my darling young one?
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it
I saw a black branch with blood that kept dripping
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin'
I saw a white ladder all...

I like the way artists are intense about things, about defining how indefinable there art is. I was looking at a book on Renoir's art, and it had quotes by him:
"I arrange my subject as I want it, then I go ahead and paint it, like a child. I want a red to be sonorous, to sound like a bell; if it doesn't turn...

Cheese and spices and MUSTARD on toast! Niiice! Maybe I'll try some of that tonight.. heh only with salsa too (my other food-love) and soy cheese.
One area where I'm incredibly lacking in culture is visual art. I can stand around a painting listening to others rant and rave about it's meaning and what the artist was trying to convey.. and I'm thinking.: "Dude, that's a few lines and a circle, get over it." Found art is an exception though.. I'm all for that. Always more interesting than a few circles

To my defense, I've had a crush on Allison Hannigan since season 2 of Buffy (when I started watching)...and she still isn't exactly a typical Hollywood beauty..but point well-received.
Usually when I'm posting during the day, I'm at work. So I try and be as economical in my writing as possible...do forgive me
And still no luck with The Girl..but I'll take your words as encouragement, thanks!

One of the things I often think about is how STUPID it seems to ask people out based on thinking they're good-looking...because, I mean, there's no more likelihood that someone you find attractive will be compatible with you than someone you DON'T find attractive....right?
On the other hand, I think a hell of a lot of people go out based on just being attracted to...

Codeine is highly overrated. You want Percocet or something like that when you feel pain.

Just don't overuse the word "like" and I won't mind.
Hee.
