MODESTO

you came, you went
my mind it got a dent
I couldn't make my rent
cuz all my cash was lent

this town is filled
with thousand dollar bills
laminated songs
contaminated lawns
we'll eat about fifteen times a day
staring through a bag of frito-lay
and I play with the fire in the stove
when my eyes peel out and my fingertips get...

Reading an Anthology of Chinese Poems of the Sung Dynasty, I Pause to Admire the Length and Clarity of Their Titles

It seems these poets have nothing
up their ample sleeves
they turn over so many cards so early,
telling us before the first line
whether it is wet or dry,
night or day, the season the man is standing in,
even how much he...

Sorry I haven't been around in a few days Cheech! By the looks of things - a lot has happened since I was last here. Whatever you do... stay away from that dog. NEVER trust a purple dog.

He's probably one of those purple people eaters!?!

...and speaking of movies that I like, I was pleased to read that Joseph Heller was indeed happy with the version of Catch 22 that Mike Nichols made. (For any of you out there that have read but not seen the movie, there are some instances where characters are compounded or are gone altogether, such as Hungry Joe and his cat nightmares.) Jospeh writes in...

I know nothing about this movie. Or any of those people or directors. I feel so out of the loop. I'm one of those weirdos that will find a few things that I like and stick with them, being almost narrowminded to the point where it's a LONG time before I check out anything new again. That's only with music and movies though. I can sit and watch the same good-IMO movies and listen to the same awesome cds I have and not get tired of it, and then my hands will grasp on something new-to-me. Does this make sense? Argh...must...get...rest...

Be careful with that cough syrup stuff. I'm not even supposed to be taking anything with tylenol or aspirin in it, but crikey, generic nyquil is sooooooooooooooooo fun. I don't do it as often as everyone thinks. But when I'm in pain, boy does a good amount of that stuff work wonders.

It's amazing how much better I feel logging in and seeing some notes to me in my journal. Man, I felt pretty lousy earlier. Tense day at work, and I was concerned about some email I got...but now I'm feeling cheered, and Nic and I are learning a hell of a lot about penguins. "Macaroni penguins"? Who knew?

PS: Your latest suggestion for a radio show name made me laugh out loud. Also, I do not have a name for my show. I realized how very gay "Garage 101." I still need help!

I love going on SG (you all know that) and I love IMing (at the very least, Tunnelslats knows thatand I have thankfully IMed most everybody etc etc) but I had a HUGE headache and a movie jones yesterday, so I decided to go rent. Morgan, braveliltoaster, and the charming vaj had inspired me to see The Royal Tenenbaums, and the mentions in the Irish...

Had dinner at my parents'. I went to my mom in the kitchen and said, "Just wondering how things are going," and she started talking about dad and her..I HAD meant how's dinner going, but I felt like a jerk correcting her, and in fact felt about 2 inches tall at that moment for not asking her, in general, how things are going more often....

I could be wrong. The molester on the episode I'm thinking of might have worked at a bike-repair shop -- unless I am confused again.

Ah. Kitties sitting in laps. Good things.

Crimea is meant to be one of the up and coming hotspots, like Varna. I know Varna was some kind of Greek trading post that was taken over by the Romans, the Slavs, and eventually the Turks - Varna was the site of a massive battle between the Crusaders and the Turks...
hmmm....
Christians, Muslims, Greek Orthodox in a former Soviet area with good food, and beautiful beaches...and no fighting.

I am still trying desperately to understand the breakup of Yougaslavia...I think the only way is to go there...

Are you familiar with Peter Gabriel's Witness Project?
http://www.witness.org
I saw some footage from the project that shocked the very essence of my soul from Rwanda. I couldn't imagine how anyone could find the hate to do some of the things I saw on that video. It might be a good starting point for your investigation - it really puts things into perspective or at least helps you understand how irrational people are behaving...

Is it better to leave a semi-interesting journal up, even if it's one day stale, or to just put in a new lil blurb to give people novelty?

Discuss.

What up mang?

I've been in n' out of da loop lately , kinda fadangled, but fly nonetheless......

Don & Mike, oh yes, I'm more into the past than the present. I used to be a delivery driver, and I listened all day long. I even got in trouble a few times for too much D&M. One time, when I worked for the Rob/May Co. I was listening to the contest they had for a penis extension. I worked on the dock, so the radio was loud. The time clock was in there, so people were always hearing their crazy shit when they walked in to clock. There was an elderly manager lady (Marge) who walked in when D&M said, "We're gonna take the one with the smallest penis." I jumped around the corner in time to hide, but I saw the gasp on her face. Right after that another manager walked in to clock out and Marge goes, "Did you hear that? They said they're gonna take the one with the smallest penis!" I started to cry from laughing so hard..HAHAHHAHAAAAA! I got in trouble, of course, but man, nothing beats seeing an old lady say "smallest penis."
I still like when Tom the Monster shows up to spell words...

I was on Don & Mike one time trying to win a contest to Iceland. They wanted people to pull over to a payphone and gather people and put them on the air. I managed to get about 150 people, but we lost...waaaaaaaaaah!

P-Funk, P-Funk, P-Funk.....

So what else is up ese'?

Finally got my film developed...as per usual, I only like a few shots of me, but at least I'm learning some of the things NOT to do with my face in front of a camera.
