It's gonna be impossible for me to keep this short. I was reading this book about Carlos the Jackal again, called Tracking the Jackal, and found the story of the 1975 OPEC ministers' kidnapping fascinating.

In 1975, a gang lead by Carlos took all of the attending members of an OPEC conference in Vienna hostage. The author of this book, David Yallop, points out...

Heavy stuff indeed -- and that is a very disturbing picture when first glanced upon.

Thank you for the bday wishes, monkey!

FINISH THE FUCKING STORY. Throw in a little more random killing and clown cars and you've got a checkmate. That movie with Bruce Willis was downright silly. What manner of beast is that beside you? When and where can I worship this new demon god?

Wow, a lot of people chimed in on that quiz. I wonder if I'd get more responses if I kept journals short like that. ARRR!!! robot bok

I'm surprised nobody picked seals or dolphins...of course, seals were up against penguins. I suppose I can't say I like seals more than penguins, but then I can't say the reverse either.

I'm not even sure if I have a definite...

I've always thought it would be fun to set that one to music, especially with the last two lines begging for it as they do. But every melody I come up with turns into "I'm Just Wild about Harry" by the end...

drunkpunk:
1) Sharks - Coz they tend to star in better movies than whales or dolphins.
2) Penguins - Coz they walk stupidly and make me laugh just by looking at them.
3) Panda Bears - Coz they woudn't try to eat me if i bumped into one.
4) Tigers - Coz Tiggers are wonderful things ya know.
5) Kiss - Coz they ain't got a fuckin ugly singer with huge lips.
6) Koalas - Coz Koalas are cuddly, whereas kangeroos will gladly kick the fuck out of you at the drop of a hat.
whatever

I'm at work and don't have much time to write immediately, but I will update later, if possible.

Spent time with alf and crazybob last night. To those who didn't show up-- you missed some nice groove-outs from the sounds of Kaleidoscope and Luna, and an excellent chicken chevre salad...

...so sue me, I'm exhausted... ARRR!!!

afternoon ps-- I just realized I'm an...

Some little notes...

1) Item I saw at work-- a guy named Juju Jiang was arrested for putting tracking software on a public internet station in a Kinko's. The software secretly kept people's keystrokes, allowing him to see everyone's email/banking passwords. Just a heads-up, sorry if it makes anyone ultraparanoid...

Hey Cheech, wassup?

RE: The isopod. Very freaky looking. I never liked anything with too many legs. Jumping Spiders I really love, but big hairy ones give me the willies. Problem is, it's hard to tell just how big the isopod is. The bigger, the better of course.

I saw video footage of a related creature which they called the Arctic Sea Flea. It lives on the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, deep underneath the ice caps, and really does look like a flea, only it's the size of a standard NFL football!!!

Even more freaky than the trapeze crab is the giant Japanese Spider Crab whose habitat is off the eastern coastline around the edge of the Marianas trench. I have seen a preserved skeleton on display in the Natural History Museum of Dublin in Ireland. Imagine a crab body you could comfortably sit on, about a foot, a foot-and-a-half wide between the two futhest points.

Now imagine articulated legs 4 metres long!!!

In the same documentary (it seemed to be focused on strange sea creatures) they had footage of a group of these guys. They move very slowly, and let me tell you, it is just creepy to have these things moving towards the submarine camera knowing that the only reason they STILL look sort of small, is because of the size of the submarine. A small man could probably stand comfortably underneath one and have his head rub the belly of the body. In reality, the pressure of their natural depth would preclude that by having to be in a WALDO.

MY DAMNED PHONE LINE IS WORKING AGAIN

Pretty much what you'd have expected; a short in the box, crossed wires, etc.

This is the second time I've seen an MSN article on what I wrote just hours before in my journal. Is MSN reading this?? Ventura warned Arnold not to take dirty money and that the media will be mean to him. Um, doesn't he...

Hi all. Sorry for the boring post but I'm at work and just here to say--

MY DAMNED PHONE LINE IS OUT AGAIN

but at least this time the phone company has acknowledged that there's a problem that they need to come fix...which they're supposed to do tomorrow morning...so I suppose I'll be writing to most of you, I dunno, Wednesday or Thursday or whenever...

"This stuff will make you a goddamned sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me"

I don't think Jesse will help Arnold out. Jesse is way more old school show-biz to be dealing with the next Reagan. Arnold is too much of a non-entity. Jesse just has that something extra....pizzazz maybe. He can talk a mean bullshit and can swing those dead cats around. They used to call em snake oil salesman....spinning a yarn....whatever.

Brad Dourif should join the cast of Blues Clues. Either that or my drinking buddy.

I drank a bottle of clear off brand Robitussin today. Tummy HURT.

But the Edgar Varese LP sounds much more......clear.

Ever have your phone line die for 36 hours for no reason?

I recommend it; lots of fun.

But I'm not here to complain as it's the weekend and I've gotten my laundry done already...which leaves me to do...whatever. I feel like buying Indian food, actually.
Earthly Powers still going for good reading; it's 600 pages, not 400 actually, but I've got 100 down. The...

that is a good flick -- hey thanks for actually getting what i write about including references and all... and yeah i did leave out that word in "the classical" -- m.e. smith is not exactly a nice man, never was. i do love the way he says "jew on a motorbike" though i know it's not pc either...shit i need to sleep, later.

I left work early today with a monster neck/head tension headache. It must have been from erratic/minimal sleep, since my day was actually not stressful. So I came back here and actually slept for 1/2 hour after taking drowse-inducing cold medicine. It was either that or beer to relax my muscles and I think I made the right choice; 1pm is too early for beer....

Superb mate!!

Legs Akimbo features the drumming talents of my good friend PervyPunk...

Sammo Hung are one of the finest local bands that have yet to make it big...but they deserve it...

The bass player with Zabrinski used to be in my classes in Uni (we purified DNA together! biggrin ), and they supported the Super Furry Animals in Edinburgh recently.

Finally, Arthur Q split up a couple of months ago as the singer is bored with playing. Arthur Q are unsigned, have no chance of a record deal, yet are the finest live band that I've EVER seen...and I was drinking with the guitarist and drummer earlier tonight, and no recorded stuff technically exists...most of the band don't even have copies! 'Muswell Hill' was written by Kenny the keyboard player I believe...I'll have to dig some photos out and upload them to my pics...

Kudos to your excellent taste sir!
cherry:
Hey darling, I had a terrible headache this week also. I hope you're feeling better now.

Strangely enough there is some SammoHung on the tape I'm sending you... Like WaTed said, a fine local punk band - we played with them a couple of weeks ago and it was fun smile

Your tape is being sent out this week, for deffinite

Apart from Earth I think I'd have to choose Eternia, for obvious reasons...

Was that an Emperor penguin and Chelsea Clinton in one work of art? I never thought I'd see them together... surreal

So which tracks do you like on that CD, and which do you dislike....unfortunately I can't remember what I put on it biggrin
rubbersoul:
Dude, whataya mean my "favorite planet"!?! How the fuck should I know? Last I heard the moon was made of green cheese. Now, as far as candy bars named after celestial bodies are concerned, I'd say Milky Way is my favorite.
