Wow, a lot of people chimed in on that quiz. I wonder if I'd get more responses if I kept journals short like that.
I'm surprised nobody picked seals or dolphins...of course, seals were up against penguins. I suppose I can't say I like seals more than penguins, but then I can't say the reverse either.
I'm not even sure if I have a definite favorite of sharks, whales, and dolphins. There are so many types of each one. Sharks - nurse, great white, mako, tiger, hammerhead; whales - Greenland wright, sperm, blue, narwhal. There's even a whale shark. I was surprised to see how many types of dolphin there are recently; there are strange, transluscent- pink ones on the Amazon, even.
Koalas or kangaroos? I'm leaning to what Pervy said there; it was a fairly goofy, but honest, moment when Michael Stipe opined that koalas live the greatest animal life in the world because 1) they lie around all day, 2) people love them, 3) when they pee on you, it smells like mint because they eat eucalyptus leaves.
I feel bad for the panda, but have to admit I prefer polar bears and figured they might win this question.
I put the mountain lions in there thinking they wouldn't win, and not knowing that Whiskey would give them such a drubbing. . .but I've realized this week that I think mountain lions are far more beautiful than lions or tigers. I would include pumas in that equation.
As a matter of fact, the only clear answer on the quiz was Aerosmith-- much better band than Kiss. At once funkier and more rootsy, with more good songs over a greater time period, even with the drug-induced- absence period to match Kiss's "Shandi" lost-years period.
Kiss had some good songs, as compiled on Double Platinum and the Alive 1 & 2 stuff, and even some after that, like "I Love It Loud" and "Lick it Up"...but I can't really be bothered much anymore (I got rid of Double Platinum recently without burning one song) and they tried to milk too much out of the we're-back-with-our-make-up crap.
And the solo albums just blow. The Joe Perry Project blows their doors off.

I've always thought it would be fun to set that one to music, especially with the last two lines begging for it as they do. But every melody I come up with turns into "I'm Just Wild about Harry" by the end...
