Finished Pierrot le Fou earlier today; mmm, not really my type of movie. I mean, it's cool how Anna Karina kinda looks like Cherry when her hair's long, and I appreciate the anarchy of some Godard films, like Weekend, but I think Godard lost his way on this one (as he did towards the latter 1/3 of Weekend).

Yesterday, I went down to my college roomies' family yard sale. I thought we'd hang around and do stuff, but at 2 in the afternoon literally everyone went for a nap: Mike, his wife, their two sons, Suzie Bear, Mike 'n SB's mom... I got lunch, went over to Mike's mom's house and, while she slept, watched some of Strategic Air Command (ladies and gentleman,...

You'd guess right. I just downloaded a documentary + parts of videos and live performances... It's a bit too Richard Oaks centered for me, but still he does a good job of playing the tunes that Bernard Buttler actually wrote... yeah, and the fact that he had to get permission from his parents because he was still in what would be highschool is fairly cool and or shamefull however you prefer to look at it.
(If it were me, I would say it was cool as hell)... but thats me.

That's hawt. I'll never look at My Little Pony the same way....
Went to see Hidalgo, as it's on its last legs at the box office... had been very keen to see it, then got thrown by mediocre reviews. The reviews are wrong; it's a good movie. I enjoyed it as much as Eternal Sunshine...
Also, how funny-- I was thinking randomly about Deerhoof this afternoon (I only have a couple of downloads by them), looked...

I loved Eternal Sunshine.... Now I'm going to put Party Monster on the laptop, put it in bed w/ me, and dream that I'm a fabulous NYC club kid circa early 90's who's "addicted to glamour, not drugs." I totally missed Marilyn Manson's character the first time around.

Haven't seen it. A bit dubious about giving Disney any more of my money. Anyway, my recent conversion is much less about spirituality than simply trying to find a way to achieve a balance. I have been an atheist since 16, Science being my only religion, and I still feel that logic is superior to any sort of mysticism. But it is also evidenced by Science that meditation and some degree of faith can greatly improve mental and physical health. Now the question is, can I actually have faith if it is simply for health, and not a deeper feeling of spirituality. As for the saving lives thing, I was indoctrinated by an activist mother to feel wrongly privileged to live comfortably while much of the world barely gets by. Been feeling guilty about that since I was little.

Bad news - I was trying to get Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies cards through interlibrary loan. But nobody would loan them... so the interlibrary loan manager suggested looking at the Library of Congress site... they don't have it... so then another coworker said, "Why don't you see if Brian Eno has a website?" Of course! There is a site...

oh also, 30 pounds would be about 45 dollars.

As far as AS goes, the whole "extreme male" characterization doesn't really have to do with aggression as it does with the inability to interpret and regulate emotions. It is more typically for us to be despondent and passive, preferring to avoid any kind of interaction that we don't know how to deal with rather than deal with it violently unless your personal space is violated. The more I think about it, the gorilla comparison does make sense, not that autistic people should be thought of like gorillas, but that our place in social situations can seem as alien as that of a gorilla in a zoo.
I finally figured out what was screwing up my '80s compilation CD in my Easy CD Creator 4 --
my computer was rejecting Tommy Tutone
...so I made a couple of '80s hits CDs for myself and Eric, sans Tutone
...well, it's not that sad maybe, but damn, no Tutone on my '80s CD? That's like having UNMoVIC without Hans Blix...

what you need, my friend, is the "like, ohmigod its the 80's popculture box set"!
it has 7 CDs with at least 20 songs per CD!!! i just borrowed it from a friend of mine and it has everything...well, except Modern English...there is not melting the world with this set but anything else you might possibly conceive is there!

Not much going on. Got taxes done. Would feel better about getting this money back from the govt if I didn't know that we're hugely in debt now, due to the current administration.
Had two cans of Ribena this afternoon. Almost went back to the shop for a third. A fourth would've been overkill, though.
Been reading the MJ Simpson bio of Douglas Adams. God,...

Heh! I love your witty comment on my journal not being 'angsty' enough for the emotional hormone charged disillusioned clients of this website.
GOOD!
S'about time I stopped whinging myself....I'm too old to do the grunge/goth emotional soap opera thing.
Got things to do, worlds to save....

I'm not sure how to take your epiphany of loner-ness. Is it a good thing?

Limbs torn away. Sawdust dribbles onto the floor

we learn, are victims of torture or amateur surgery.

I saw a live concert of theirs in high school on MTV, but I don't know if it's the one you're referring to. At any rate, Einar Orn was being a jackass and upstaging Bjork. I read that they made their debut on Icelandic TV with her being very pregnant and her eyebrows shaven off. I wish I could have seen it. My husband saw the Sugarcubes/New Order/PIL tour in Boston, and said that Einar gave the audience a gigantic lecture about 'the lack of punctuality of your countrymen'. He also apparently has a book of poetry called Shit Heap. What a hoot.

New Journal coming, in this space, in an hour or two... poetry, for fil and BrookeLynne... it's Poetry Night. Kinda like Judgment Night, but more poems and less Denis Leary hunting Emilio Estevez...
As for the obligatory quotation from Dawn Prince-Hughes's book, here it is (although I'm a little sad nobody felt moved by the Guided by Voices quote...oh, well):
Gorillas, like autistic people, are misunderstood. They are seen as ugly, as caricatures of fully formed humanity, as unfinished or trapped in an anachronistic world that has no value. Prejudices about what it means to be a person...

No i'm not in the military, best decision of mylife, if I were i'd be dead by now. I just learn to fight like I am Special Forces, maybe join the UN or some other NGO that needs tough motherfuckers to defend against Fascist Bastards that our country sponsors. I will never be Rummy's bitch. I haven't heard that track, I'll surf for it. Gotta get out of here now. Damn I'm possessed by this place.
The first NFL game I ever watched on TV was the Dolphins versus the Bills and for some reason Marino became my favorite player.
The main reason I like the rest of the Detroit pro-sports teams are: Alan Trammell,Lou Whitaker, Steve Yzerman, and the Bad Boys Pistons.
The Lions did have Barry, but I just liked him, not the team.
