Further Facts About My Plush THE CHEAT Doll

Funnily enough, the Chaps designed a special sticker for the side of the box. I wish they'd included one unused, inside, since the post office gets your boxes filthy in transit... but anyway, it says "Kick The Cheat - The Cheat" around a pic of The Cheat getting kicked by a big foot a la the mechanical...

Yeah!.....I have no idea what's goin' on with 534. I drove by it the other day and saw all the yellow tape out front. That sucks that you drove all the way down here to find out that it was closed...I'd have been PISSED!! mad But I hope you found something else to do instead. I'll see what I can dig up around the campfire and let you know what the hell they're doing. You gonna come down on Sunday for bowling?

Got Saucer Wisdom today. Book smells FUNNY. Can't pinpoint the smell... something oily... Maybe a bit like a toxic Marks-A-Lot, but only after the acrid fumes have worn off and all that remains is something that just doesn't smell right. See what happens when you get stuff cheap over the internet? Context aside, I'm grooving so far on the preface and introduction and look forward to reading the rest as soon as I'm done re-reading Neuromancer. Seems like I had to do that with the last Gibson Novel I re-read, his collaboration with (I had to look this up) Bruce Sterling, The Difference Engine.

I really, really, really, REALLY want to buy this album:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/music/B0000010VI/102-4056220-3388943

but fuck me, $35 is a lot to pay for one album. And I have to admit, I dabble in jazz, some of it is great but I mostly do rock... but this album? This is the type of jazz I really want.

I really, REALLY, REEEALLY, REALLY want.

I've blown a lot of...

I like renting too, especially since I'm broke, but I wanted to see Big Fish at the theatre. It seemed like the kind of thing that's better when it's BIG. The theatre here only had six customers during the 7:00 show.

I don't want to say anything, because I don't want to start a bunch fo drama. And my biggest point of contention is a lengthy sort of diatribe about the innate flaws of a so-called "communtiy" such as this, where certain people are always going to be second-class citizens, so to speak...so, like I sad, it's better if I just say I get frustrated by the way things work around here sometimes.

If that helps clarify anything at all... smile

Well, I can see your point about not knowing how things will turn out. But the reason I'm so hard on Nader is not just that he ran, but the way he ran. When he saw that things were going to be close, he could have pulled back, or told his voters in swing states to vote for the Democrats. Instead, he did the opposite. Electing Bush wasn't just something that happened; it was his goal.

I also don't think the Greens have a chance of being a major third party. The extremely rare times this has happened in the US, it has been a party that shatters the existing alignments. The Greens don't do that; they just represent (a fraction of) the left part of the US's left colation. But even if they do, you just can't build a party from the top-down under this system. Running Presidential candidates has hurt the Greens. Being associated with throwing an election to Bush is not going to help them grow.

you knew i am the baby in the barn. when the cow gives blood we must all eat all beautiful women. I'm listening to Wire's Map Ref 410n 930w, as done by Kevin Shields.... and what do I care.... Van Gogh's ear was just meat when it was cut. Now it is monument. We must kill them, pig by pig, cow by cow, village by village, army by army. They lie, and we must forgive those who lie, those Nabobs, I hate them. I do hate them.

NEW BOOK WEEK #2

I should caveat here, since there is a decided anti-Bush slant to... maybe 3/4 of the books on my list?... that I have just seen short descriptions of the books. True, they might be poorly-researched or biased in a non-professional manner, as some Republicans reading this might now be wondering. We'll just have to see. And now - on with the...

Thanks for the book list. The entry wasn't anything worth reading. Just me whining about random stuff in my life. But I've got a spreadsheet of likely jobs set up to hammer through, so I'm done with the whining and on to the practical stuff.

Don't watch Bumfights 2, please.

Some of it really sickens me, not because of what they do exactly (although some of that is horrible), but because of the intention behind it. Now I can certainly see the amusement and possible socio-economic highlighting of poverty and homelessness in a clip where 2 'bums' run around in a circle with their heads on golf clubs until they're dizzy and then they race to a bin to get the $20 in it. What I don't see the point of, to the extent that I was occassionally disturbed watching it, is assaulting people on the streets because of the situation they're in.

I didn't enjoy M Hulot's Holiday as much as Play Time, but it was fun watching it and realizing just how much Rowan Atkinson ripped off Tati for his Mr. Bean character. Though it's odd to see just how quick and one-off all the gags are. Any other comedian would have stretched out and milked all the gags for whatever they were worth. Tati, on the other hand, seems content to make his point and move right along.

Although I don't think I wanna read it end-to-end, the Van Gogh and Gauguin book by Debora Silverman that I've had my eye on forever is returning some real rewards, now that I browse it... such as pics by Van Gogh that aren't famous because the originals have been destroyed or disappeared. The last one in the book, his angel in the style of Rembandt,...

Never heard the CD.

Hmm. I don't think I've ever played Warlords, then. But Combat fucking rules. I wish they had it for the PS2 - I could get an emulator, but my computer's in my back room and so less easy to sit around with friends and drink beer.

Thanks for the vote of moral support, but, as the story says, not a whole lotta swinging going on at the moment. The one couple we were actually hooking up with moved away, and we have yet to master the balancing act of approaching folks (most people we've met who are self-consciously 'in the scene' are people we don't get along with... lots of Republicans and military types for some reason).

And yeah, I hate the word. I think it's because 'swinging' seems to imply going out and finding other couples for the sake of finding other couples, sorta like a pairs version of being a pick-up artist. I like the ring of "poly-" better...
