After 5 years, there's massive changes going to be done in my livin' quarters. Thanks for the info, hehehe... Actually, I'm pretty familiar with the tech behind 'em. There are varying degrees of quality in external drives to be sure, and power is often an issue. Mine's an externally powered enclosure with firewire interface, and barring some bizarro crash the time is taken to properly un-mount the volume (which autoparks the heads) before it's switched off or unplugged. And when such a freak occurence does go down, I get all freaked and check the internal and external drives with the Mac OS X Disk Utility to catch anything that may or may not become a problem down the road. Fortunately, I've made technology my bitch and the drive is performing smoothly once more. I'm planning on doing a backup of the essentials before the weekend is out, we'll see how that ends up going...

LOL... well good to know you're not the smelly one in the truck, and good luck getting rid of the odor. I'd suggest that maybe it's the smell of old sweat, but if it's worked into the carpets that's just bizarre. Hope you don't find that it's the remains of another dead hooker whose body you forgot to get rid of hahaha
