Zipped up to Portland with d23 as a tourguide.

So far:

  • Voodoo Doughnuts is not what I expected, but no less wonderful.
  • I feel as though someone poured concrete into my nostrils. No wait, there's enough air moving in here to get a whiff. It's something much nastier than concrete.
  • People here, at least D's friends, are incredibly friendly and generous.
  • This city does indeed...

BTW, I got my Nevada nursing license so I can't travel the world with you. frown

I'd like to see you before you're gone. I work now so it's getting in the way of free time. Hmm.

A smattering of thoughts for the day.

Economic Collapse? Not Quite.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
But perhaps quite close. And perhaps yes in places other than the U.S.

My father sent me this video this morning:

Which stirred up this set of thoughts in turn:

Well, it's interestingly dire. I'd like to know more about what he thinks the contributing factors to the collapse will...

Indeed. Superhumanly nerdy, even. I expect to be able to shoot lasers of binary out of them any day now. And with the enemies I will surely garner, I will have to defend myself with a pocket protector shield.

Getting deeper into planning the round-the-world journey, I'm learning that this deal isn't as strict about the ordering of flights, but it's terribly strict about number of flight codes. Once a flight changes codes, it's two "coupons" and that's what I'm limited to 16 on, including the return flight. This forces some replanning.

Example 1: I want to visit the cradle of civilization, but I...

I'm having my mind soundly blown tonight.

I've started plotting the tentative stops for my round-the-world jaunt. I'm working under the assumption that I'll buy my ticket as a Star Alliance Round The World Fare.(1) This ticket would limit to me to 15 flights, total.

15 flights.

Anywhere in the world.

Where would you go?

I pulled a fresh copy of Google Earth. This...

I've been having a recurring nightmare.

(This is strange. I don't usually remember my dreams.)

In the nightmare, I am visiting a museum complex. I am with friends. Angular creatures fall from the sky and begin to attack everyone around them. They are the size of small dogs, with sharp edges, and they tear people to shreds quickly, like piranha. The shreds start to reform...

Hey,
I just saw The Order of Myths and really liked it.

I'm having recurring themes in my dreams, I'm trapped in a situation I don't want to be in but I have no other choice than to move forward with that decision.

He's an internal specialist. I also told him very bluntly my distaste for pills. But I know the reason he prescribed what he did and I agree with it.

It used to be I felt awkward if I was getting someone's phone number and I didn't already know their last name to put with it.

Now I feel strange thinking that their last name matters when I put their number in.

I don't think I'm quite ready for a road trip just yet. I'm sort of afraid to plan anything until I have a better idea of what our budget actually looks like.
