Seriously, if I ever run a business, remind me to make sure that my workers don't have a really hard time just getting paid what they deserve.

Here's a tip for those who already run an business: if someone has done work for you and as such you owe them cash, pay them the fucking cash. And not at your leisure. Pay them when you're...

That sum of money can pay off a few bills...I'd be pissed too! Hope you get it.
dem_z:
Yes. People who ask someone to do something, tell them they'll get paid for it, watch it being done, and then don't pay up; they're arseholes.
There needs to be a website of people who pay late or something.

I've done fuck all lately. Lack of cash plus family commitments and lack of fun things to do has meant 4 days of tedium, interspersed with writing, walks, guitar-playing and TV-watching.

This weekend will be fun though. TISM on Friday! Awesome! Drinking on Saturday perhaps? Rock!

Enough 'angry young Liberal male' shit. For now.

Here's an unexciting story about why little-known Australian band Karma County are responsible for the best album of all time:

There is only one album that is so inextricably tied to my memories that it would be difficult for me to imagine my experiences without it. Last Stop Heavenly Heights is that album. Listening to it instantly...

Dude!
The lack of internet access at the new pad has seen me not able to visit the site til now. Why now? Cause I'm fucking in Hong Kong, which is perhaps the most kick-arse city in the world. Like, we thought the factory was cool. Today I went on a hike through the New Territories outside the city, and in the middle of nowhere came across a small, semi-abandoned village, poluated solely by old women, because theit husbands all either died in the war or went to get a job and never earned enough money. Just old women and dogs. And half-broken houses and graves of old women. Silent as anything. Eerie as. I sincerely hope I stumble into a million dollars so I can stay here for ages. An incredible place.
Sorry that that had nothing to do with your post. I'm just excited to a) be back on the site and b) be in Hong Kong.
Rock/Roll or both on.

After the Australian and US elections, it's clearly time for my mate Geoff and I to have a justifiably emo chat about the current state of affairs:

Geoff says:
there is such a division occurring everywhere, in america, in australia, i don't know about elsewhere but conservative governments are not governing a majority, they're governing a democracy that no longer has any meaning

Anton says:...

It isn't democracy that has failed us. The American people didn't vote Bush in, the American voters did. Democracy in the US is not yet substantive enough to maintain itself in a vital form. We need a revolution badly...

The state final of the World Battle Of The Bands was on Wednesday night. All four of the bands were fucking brilliant, but in the end only two could go through to the national final: if you see a poster for NRNR or Bagster around, check 'em out, 'cause they're so hot right now.

Had an interview with New Zealand band Deja Voodoo yesterday....

Dude, someone's been lying to you then!
No, I guess it isn't too bad. Culture differences are hard to deal with at times...but the land itself is pretty cool.
Looks like America might be facing the same fate you guys did last month.
fuck.
Still some states to report though...keeping my fingers crossed.

How long until I can justifiably do a 'looking back at the year' journal special? It's probably a couple of months away really, but I'm in the mood for a retro-fucking-spective extrava-fucking-ganza that ignores all the bad shit, focuses on all the good shit, and omits the shit I like to keep private.

Dude, seriously!

Chris Isaak is the fucking best. He played for two hours, and played lots of songs I love like Dancin',Heart-Shaped World, Wicked Game and his beautiful version of Only The Lonely.

I officially have the biggest, gayest crush on him and I demand he come back again and again and play gigs every night.

Yes, safe to say...

Dear Heather is pretty good. I only got it yesterday, so I haven't listened to it much yet. I really love his last album Ten New Songs. Dear Heather isn't as good, but there is some good stuff on it. It is definitely better than The Future, for instance.

I'm seeing Chris Isaak next week! Yes! It's the first gig I have to pay for in bloody ages, but I'm sure it will be worth it. I own all of his albums, can play most of his songs on guitar and officially have a totally gay crush on him. Did you know he's 49? Cor blimey, he's looking good isn't he?

Also coming up...

Rocket Science on Friday night were good. I drank cheap pints of Stella Artois beforehand, and they went down a goddamn treat.

Grinspoon on Saturday were fucking outrageous. They played the South East suburb of Revesby, a real exemplar of the Australian suburban experience. The kids there went nuts. Brilliant show.

I saw the Black Eyed Peas tonight, and was unfortunately nigelated by...

Watcha doing on Wednesday evening? I'll be officially at a loose end, and I thought if you wanted to give Adrian and Lindsay a shout, maybe see if they're up for a drink or sumfink.

I'll actually get my phone activated tomorrow, oh yes I will.
