Ahhhh, the pictures.... the museum artifacts look stunning! It's like you can gaze at them for hours and write numerous incredible stories about the life of those items! I love it!

Sometimes it's a bit creepy too... here in Gent there's the Dr Guislain museum (Dr Guislain Museum) it's an old psychiatric centre where they have the old buildings and all the stuff, old hospital beds, those electroshoch devices, weird baths,... interesting as hell; but afterwards a bit disturbing smile Luckily they also have some nice art exhibitions in other wings of the building too!

So lots of uprooted trees there too? Damn... always makes me sad somehow frown When I take the train to Brussels, the slaughter amongst trees is also immense after the storm raged over the country 2 weeks ago... Kinda funny they look like owls indeed smile

Curious to see Cherry's work, hope it won't take ages smile Meanwhile, take care & rock on smile

Amazing trees! A kind of siamese trees, or it's normal ?

We have a wee living tree inside the house and have put little ornaments and lights on it! I enjoy the slightly surreal aspect of that particular ritual. I'm going to plant it in the garden afterwards and I hope the roots won't have been too damaged for it to grow. It's a blue spruce. I hope you're all happy and cosy whatever it is...

That's a neat idea. I like that much better than having a fake tree or cutting down a live one. It looks great too.

Christmas seems even more irrelevant over here. For a start they put up decorations in the shops in October! Then we have a Xmas pageant in November. So, by the time the real Xmas comes, it's been dragged out for so long we're over it. I'm not a Christian (atheist when it comes to deity, Buddhist/Taoist when it comes to spirituality), so that gives the whole season no meaning for me. And, to top it off, we have trees and fake snow and snow men etc, but the weather is a bright and sunny 37 degrees celsius. I went shopping in our main shopping mall this year. There were thousands of people fighting for bargains, carrying masses of useless presents, on a 41 degree day while, over loudspeakers, they played a pan pipe version of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. madness! Happy thoughts to you though.

Sometimes, quite often actually, I feel that the time and work that it takes just to maintain our living bodies such as washing, dressing, eating, finding the time to sleep, is more than there is time for in each day. Not to mention that wretched inconvenience WORK (which of course I hope to make into something pleasurable and convenient one day) or those frivolous but...

I love The Waves. Definitely one of my favorite works as well.

I love your blogs/photos/sets. Always lovely. And that set of Sinnah is most definitely a stunner. Breathtaking.
prajnaparamita:
Extraordinary photos of the plants. I haven't read The Waves, but To The Lighthouse is one of my favourite books. The thing with me is that I always have more than one book on the go. Currently I am reading Shelby Foote's 3-volume history of the American civil War, Jules Verne's twenty thousand Leagues under the Sea, a Phyrne Fisher mystery novel and a collection of modern poetry edited by garrison Keillor.

I had the most peaceful weekend. I don't know how I can complain about small things when I have all this beauty this within my reach. I suppose we have to learn to capture and stay in those moments when things frustrate and worry us. To remember that everything is transient. It is quite amazing that to be in a beautiful wild place seems to...

Thank goodness for books and music to recharge your soul at the end of boring work days. I had such a dull time at work today. I have a new job which entails doing virtually nothing and I can't stand it. I really need some kind of stimulation or after a couple of hours I begin to feel like my brain is dissolving to mush....

Just found a passage in Thich Nhal Hanh's book which struck a cord " Work is only part of life. But work is life only when done in mindfulness. Otherwise one becomes like the person who lives as though dead. We need to light our own torch in order to carry on."

WOW you took the words right out of my mouth that is what I have felt ever since I graduated however I have only been out for 5 months, I'm just not sure what the next step might be, I have a job which is awesome but like you were talking about it doesn't really fit me as I am not really fond of the corporate or retail worlds and I have yet to find some type of creative outlet that I really like, I have tried writing poetry but I never like what I write, with art I don't really have any direction and with music I can play brass but I was never really passionate about it and the instruments I want to play I have zero coordination or fine motor skills, which brings me to something else, I think it was awesome that you worked with stroke victims as I was actually born with one (congenital hemiplegia/hemiparesis) and I had to to physical therapy for the first several years of my life so I'm not sure if you were placed there or you wanted to work with stroke rehabilitation but thank you...you are awesome, I enjoy reading your blogs even if I am a little late, I haven't looked at SG in awhile so I am looking around at what I have missed
