Not much new at the moment, but I figured I'd quickly update my journal. Monday was the 10th anniversary of the New York Rangers winning the Stanley Cup for the first time in 54 years. I celebrated by watching a re-broadcast of Game 7. One of the happiest days in my life from a sports stand point. That the organization has managed to fuck up...

Greetings,
Not much to report from the weekend other than the weather's been beautiful and I just took it easy. Except I've noticed something over the last week or two (including a couple of times this weekend): I'm starting to dream again. Maybe it's been a product of the fact that I haven't been able to sleep in a few years, but I haven't had...

The big flag waved that MTV has changed it's stance on awards shows is....they now pre-tape them. This means no more random winners spouting off or throwing off an occasional swear for high school aged street cred. It also means any sense of tension or even anticipation has been erased in favor for a perfectly-planned lifeless shitty program. whatever I've heard that I've nice hands and forearms...it's the 15 years of guitar playing that's doing it for the dames, I'd say. wink
chiquitabonita:
yay for a man set free into dreams! not dreaming gives me this niggling feeling of what am I missing, so very glad you found your way back into subconciousland. and thanks for the get well wish...

1. Paris Hilton is a fucking moron. Perhaps we should drop MTV a complaint.

2. Watching the Bourne Identity now, matter of fact. Still not sure about Matt Damon. Isn't he supposed to be significantly older?

3. Kisses for mention of the Time. P. Diddy is just trying to re-invent something to make himself seem cool again.

4. Golf. huh.

5. Probably my breasts. I'd really like to say my eyes, but that's not what gets stared at most. Just being honest.

So I go out drinking last night in Fairfield/Black Rock, and it turns into one of those nights where I'm chasing the unicorn. Basically, I shouldn't have left the first place I was at because the other two bars sucked and were basically dead, but I spent the night chasing after something that didn't exist... in this case a fun night. It wasn't terrible; I...

I could never play xbox. I get bored too easily. But online I can spend money on ebay and waste a whole night with that. biggrin
peggy:
No beagles on ebay. I believe animals or anything live is restricted from being sold.

It's about 3am on Wednesday morning and once again, I can't sleep. Fuck. I thought about taking a drive, but with gas prices the way they are... well, I thought better of it. So, I'm here on SG, stressed, tired, angry, frustrated and wide awake. I'd get into it all, but frankly I bore myself when I bitch like I did a couple of rants...

I'm a little rushed so I've got a shorter than usual rant:

1.) I feel bad for Jennifer Lopez. Beautiful woman, immensely talented, hugely successful... But apparently she doesn't feel complete unless she has a man in her life. Unless she actually marries him. Why the rush all the time? Why not just date/live with Marc Anthony for a while -- like 4 to 5...

I don't feel bad for Jennifer Lopez. She has the time and money to get help, I think she really is just an attention whore.

And as far as guys, I don't really like thin guys. I want a guy that looks tough and looks intimidating to other guys.
welntaod:
Yeah, I have some marginal pity for J. Lopez but, I have to squint and hold my breath for it to appear... whatever She's someone in the grand scheme of the world where if they haven't figured out a way to pull themselves up by their bootstraps or, have figured out how to pay someone to do it for them, I can't be bothered to pay them mention. blackeyed

First off, I've uploaded some new shit to my Pics folder from the Addeo Freakout, an annual blowout in Bridgeport, CT that my friend Mike and his brothers have thrown the last 7 years. 3 bands, tons of beer and sheer craziness. Enjoy. smile

Second, thanks to all of those who offered kind words and encouragement to my last post. Not really feeling better or worse,...

Those pics look like a lot of fun. No one smiles that bit unless they're having a great time.

1. What's odd is that the media never mentioned one little bit of information: three years ago there was some disease that killed off something like 90% of the foals in Kentucky, i.e. Smarty Jones' competition. It's not that he's a great horse (he's a bit better than average), it's that his competition is poor in comparison to good years. Consider him the horse racing equivalent of Larry Holmes. In some ways it's why the media desperately wants a rival for Tiger. It's difficult to sell someone no matter how great they are unless they're either a) a headcase who creates interest themselves (like Tyson), or b) have good competition of equal or close to equal skill (like Ali's Fraizer and Foreman). I do agree it gets annoying listening to the media hyping whatever is currently happening as "they greatest thing ever," but it's something that's only going to get worse.

2. Sad to say, but even the contest itself isn't about intelligence. It's about memory. All too often people believe a good memory and intelligence are the same thing. The smartest guy I know has a horrible memory, but he worked in a think tank for seven years.

3. Yowch. Sounds like you should be trying to learn Linux.

4. Is it just me, or does Method Man look a hell of a lot like Kenyon Martin? The show does look horrible and seems to pander to virtually every stereotype. Surprised they didn't do a watermelon gag, though I suspect that'll turn up in sweeps or something.

Ever have those days when it feels like the walls are closing in? Not the four walls in the room you're in, the four walls around everything in your path. It's like you're toxic. You feel raw and a bit wild; equations don't add up, sentences don't make sense, and everything around you is off-center. Sort of like a perpetual ear infection that's thrown off...

A quiet but enjoyable weekend. Relaxed, saw some friends, just basically chilled... which gave me some more time to think about various things that are occupying my consciousness:

1.) What happened to North Korea? Weren't they hellbent on building nuclear weapons several months ago? I remember that the speculation was that they were doing it basically to backmail the West into giving them food, etc....

Friday night. Decided to stay in. Bored shitless. So without further adieu, here are some things currently occupying my thoughts:

1.) Boredom. Is anyone else out there bored to ass-numbing porportions? OK, I'm in the midst of looking for a job so I've got WAY too much time on my hands, but it just seems like I'm more bored now than I can remember being....

1. Hmm. I'm currently job-hunting as well. Well, not really agressively hunting, more half-heartedly sending out applications and c.v.'s while hitting up some leads on freelance work. But, no, it's very difficult for me to be bored; usually it requires having to spend time in the company of someone whose company I don't want. And I've long since given up watching channels that have little scrolly things on the bottom.

2. His voice is rather thin. It seemed to work for him, though, in the Magnum role and in Her Alibi. I haven't really seen him in anything else. Westerns are one of the few genres I completely avoid, so. But, I don't know. Something I'll have to take notice of the next time I see him in something.

3. What happened to Dennis Miller was 9/11. Seriously. Before then, he was this quirky erudite intellectual commedian who had a meaningless talkshow that allowed him to do a mini-act once a week for about fifteen weeks (I loved the show, but aside from the rants it was just your average "fluff piece" show). But then 9/11 happened and this really odd political side to Miller surfaced. He'd always mixed in political humor, but he'd always been very good about hitting both sides about equally. Suddenly his political humor was becoming very one-sided and more politcal than humor. There was this general smarminess to this switch. The HBO show gets cancelled and he's given a politcal show on one of the new networks and the fall is complete. I've caught a clip or two while flipping through the channels, and it just makes me shake my head. I liked Dennis when he was taking erudite cheapshots, not when he was pushing an agenda.

4. The thing about corn on the cob is that I get chin abrasions from my stubble when I eat it. It's worth it, mind you, but I tend to limit how often I eat it. And you don't put pepper on it? Zhuh?

6. Well, at least we'll be in hell together.

7. Hockey is impossible to market in America because i) the best teams are small market teams and Americans seem to only care about, or at least tune in to watch, teams from big markets; ii) rarely are the star players American, which means that the sport is viewed by the general public as a foreign sport; iii) much like in football, the protective equipment worn prevents the casual viewer from quickly identifying a given player; iv) the game itself is low scoring and repetitive (reasons why soccer continues to break through) and thus to the casual viewer seems boring; v) inexplicably the production values of hockey haven't changed much since the 70s. Now, iii) and iv) are superficial problems based on conditioning. As said, football has players just as anonymous, and baseball is an even slower, more repetitive game. i) and ii), though are the real sticking points, it seems. I remember I was watching basketball when the Flyers were playing games 6&7 against TB, and they kept breaking into the game to update on what was happening. Phillie is a large market. Since they were eliminated, I haven't heard anything about hockey from the basketball people. I'm not a fan of hockey, but I do hate to see a sport die.

8. I don't know. I always wonder why there aren't more latinos on shows, as they'll soon become the largest minority in America. But then I don't think I've actually ever sat through an entire reality dating show.

Is it wrong that it took me several long moments to figure out what word you were appologizing for?

There comes a time in every man's life when he must heed a higher calling. When he must step up, put his ass on the line and be prepared to take the brunt of the assault. Kennedy knew this. Michael Jordan knew this. The Marlboro Man knew this. Paul Ruebens knew this. For every man, this time comes as destiny, as the beacon of hope...

Here are some new things that are making my blood boil:

- What the fuck is going on with gas prices? Ever notice that whenever there's a big hike in prices it comes just before the summer, when everyone and mother is looking to road trip? I don't think the country should dip into the reserves to off-set the prices, but isn't Dubya the guy...
