These are some of the big things Im planning for my life (in no particular order):

1. See a polar bear in the wild
2. See the Northern Lights
3. Learn to snow board
4. Buy a canoe and use it
5. See the Southern Cross
6. Learn French
7. Learn to cook Thai food in Thailand
8. Grow my hair long enough to cover...

I think one of my problems is I rarely get out of the neighborhood I live in other than to go to work. Which is only 5 minutes away.

Good list. I would love to do quite a few of those things. A few I have done. I need some new goals.

Im waiting, waiting, waiting for it to rain. Im sitting here wanting the first drops like a teenage girl listening for the phone to ring when he said hed call. My hair is curly and my ankle hurts. I know its going to rain. I have done everything I can think of to appease the rain gods: Ive made outside plans, Ive watered my garden....

It took me a while to figure what that book is in your pictures. ha ha. I read that about six months ago. gypsy girl commanded me to read it. A lovely book, but I found it to be more about politics than about sex. Not that that's a bad thing, but considering the uprorar it caused when it was published, over a few small scenes. They were very vivid scenes though.

Of all the things Ive seen, everything thing Ive done, and everything I am yet to be, my favorite memory will always be my husbands face at the moment our first child was born. He's standing there, at my side, an indescribable mixture of awe, love, fear, and joy written on his features, tears pooled in his eyes, with his soul trying to jump out...

Every time my mother-in-law visits I have PMS. Even for the entire four weeks in August. Hmmm....

I have to amend the above because she is a caring, sweet, and welcoming woman who has treated me like a daughter from the first night I spent in her house. It's me - I'm selfish of my time and I'm a loner, and I get unreasonably...

Thank you for the virtual hug -- word is, he's going to be ok. I'm so happy, so relieved. And I need to start working on reconciliation. Because life is quick, and not speaking is dumb.

In unrelated news, your new user pic is hot. smile

No way! I had a bird that called the cats, too! But ... the cats were afraid of that evil beast. I'll have to dig out the picture I have of her eating cat food surrounded by 6 cats! She used to just walk over and sort of nudge them with her wings to make room for her. smile We were trying to teach the bird to say "happy, happy, joy, joy" and it was really funny because she would sit in there say, "happy, happy, happy" and then laugh maniacally. She was possessed, I'm sure of it!

Have a great day! I'm late to work (again). smile

Dogs are the all the things the humans say about them. They are noble; loyal; caring; honest; brave, always willing to lick your toes when you need it most. But Ill tell you a secret: They are incredibly materialistic. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

Yes, Josh is a lot of fun ... he saw your picture and said he'd be happy to be your friend and treat you like that, too. wink Silly men! But in all seriousness, Josh must be the most generous man I have ever met. He dropped 3 bills on me and we're not even dating! You should see the shopping sprees he takes his dates on.

Well, I'm pre-coffee but you haven't changed your question so thankfully I didn't have to think. Yay! smile

Yesterday, I wrote about one of the ugliest things Ive seen containing racism, inequality, and inaction in the face of injustice- human shortcomings. Luckily, I have been blessed to witness far more beauty, or maybe its just what I choose to see. After a late night conversation about a moment of beauty with Onegin, and being generally asked to relate stories of beauty and...

One of the things I miss most living where I do is the lack of wildlife. I grew up in rural Illinois and I was just used to that. Then I lived in Minneapolis and I loved that despite it being a large city I would often encounter deer, raccoons, beavers and even the occasional fox. It also had so many beautiful wild areas near the river and lakes. Here in St. Louis I rarely even see squirrels. It feels so lifeless sometimes.

Once, about fifteen years ago, I was desperately trying to follow my step-mother. My step-mother drove the way she lives- like a bat out of hell and with very little regard for those trying to keep up. I tend to drive much more cautiously, especially when its raining hard and I dont know where I am or where Im going. Im not sure if this...

For you my six year old on your birthday, I give you the color red. I give you all its fire and all its warmth. I give you the red that snaps in embers toward the sky against a background of quiet trees. I give you that famous rosy fingered dawn. I give you the flash of scarlet on a hummingbirds cheek. But you dont...

I had two profound experiences this weekend.

The first came at the supermarket counter, the clerk ringing up my weeks groceries said This is what I love about Fred Meyers -you can always find something you need. Okay Dokey then, Ill keep that in mind when I go to Fred Meyer's with the express purpose of buying what I need - like food.

The second...

I took a class over 3 years ago, and then didn't take another one. I started again in the fall and now it's become such a part of things that I find myself shimmying down the hallway and it takes no effort at all to pick up my drum and start to play a beat. It's so very good for your body too - makes you use and limber up muscles that you don't use nearly enough. smile

Good luck finding a class and the music. I can give you the beat the way I was taught it:

Doum Doum Tec Ca Tec Doum Tec Ca Tec Tec Ca

The Doums are accomplished by hitting the drum in the middle and the Tec is hitting one hand's fingers on the edge of the drum to the side, and the Ca is hitting the other hand's fingers on the edge of the drum at the top. The 'Doum' is very deep and bass-like, making me want to hip drop all the way 'round the room. smile I hope that made some sense to you. It seems that actual musical notation doesn't really exist, it's mostly in terms of Doums, Tecs, and Cas...
