Good talking to you, though sorry the timing sucked and I caught you in the middle of shit. Hope you saw many rad things, and were able to summon the willpower to resist buying anything not absolutely essential (I love window shopping).

1 - not really, but I can work computers (I've even designed them at one point in the past) and occasionally do things with tools... I've even designed and built a cheap desk & bookcase when I first got here because all my furniture was still in storage and I didn't have any money. But I don't know shit about cars.

2 - Yes, many a time over the years. But to be fair, I was working it pretty hard.

3 - I used to, but not so much anymore. I don't have a lot of patience sometimes and I get agitated, but I don't explode so much or totally lose it that often - I have a promise to keep to someone I can never make it up to....

I am sooo jealouse of your described view from the window. Here in my semi-converted loft the velux windows look out onto the backs of everyone else's gardens and a patch of waste ground. Ohh for palm trees and eucalyptus. Then again, once I get the deck laid in the garden later this year I'm plating cycads and dinosaur ferns, so that'll be a start

the day go-eth. luke and i worked on this new section of the dirt-jumpin park at lunch. then i crashed my bike (as usual). my back is ouchy but it'll be ok. work is work... got some goodness done and so i feel ok about the day in general. just gonna kick it roof down tonite. are you done with work today or did you get the day off?

holy journal entry!

1) hmmm. i guess that would be "not often". usually i try to just leave people alone. and hope that they do the same for me. perhaps i should start bugging people more though!
2) pretty outgoing here though. not really in the "running up to total strangers in an open-setting" type of guy but usually blend in quickly in social situations. tend to talk too much if conversation dies a horrible death to try to get people going again. actually, that is not altogether true. get some beverages in me and i am liable to go talk to anyone! (forgot about last weekend already!)
3) not often. tend to stay close to home as home is pretty far away from everything else. once a week maybe? look good? that is a good one. i wish i could figure out how to dress for outage... but unfortunately, i am a bit of a slob when it comes to dressing. jeans, t-shirt, mussed up hair. that is the stubert look.

Being drunk and in charge of a pushbike is one of the greatest highs known to man... if there's three of you on the one bike at the same time, it's funnier still, especially when you all crash into a tourist sign and the one driving chips three teeth and the rest of you laugh yourselves sick. The visible scars and wounds next day are good for a laugh, too... haven't ridden for a while, tho I have been looking at the MTB for the last fortnight now that the weather's finally here... haven't even had a motorbike for a while following the last crash.... anyway:

1)all the time, assuming we're in a social situtation. I don't generally approach people in the street as there are far too many neanderthals in these parts and the creatives/alternatives tend to congregate in a few places. But then, hell yes. I'm out of the habit a bit, but I go through periods of trying out different bars just to meet different people, and when you're the only person in town with a mohawk you can't exactly blend in and make like wallpaper
2)apparently I look unapproachable... several friends and acquaintances have reported tales of overheard conversations along the lines of "wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him" or "I'm going to cross the road to avoid that bloke" kind of thing. And there's me thinking I was just being kind of anonymous and aloof. Aloof is probably the best or closest. This probably explains a previous life as a doorman and the main reason I can't wear a suit without looking like a CPA. Once people get under the armour, though, I'm a pussycat. I like to think I can get along with just about anyone, but that said I don't suffer fools for long...
3)not nearly as often as I'd like, which I'm trying to remedy. This last year it's been once a fortnight or less, for any number of reasons from cash to commitments. And yeah, if I'm going out for more than a pint of milk, I always go the extra mile for appearance..... The days when an old army shirt and a pair of bondage strides would suffice are some way back in history....

YES!!! Madame Chinchilla!! I have her book, "Stewed, Screwed and Tattooed", which is fabulous. I was thinking of asking her to write something for The Beltane Papers about the spiritual aspect of tattooing, since she seems to be kind of into that. My tattoo Holy Grails are to someday be inked by her and Vyvyn Lazonga....

I had the same experience growing up. My dad built the house I was born in & the house we move to when I was about 8. It's good stuff to know...especially now that I'm ready to build my own house. Woohoo!
