You want more and more and more. This, in a sense, is real poverty-always hungry, hungry, hungry with no time to be satisfied. Others might not be rich, but contentment provides them with fewer worries, fewer enemies, fewer problems, and very good sleep.

beauty, wisdom and the prettiest smile i have ever seen, without a doubt. and i agree true wealth is a state of mind and if you have that everything else doesnt matter near as much.

Be calm, even when the external environment is confused or complicated; it will have little effect if your mind is at peace. On the other hand, if your mind gives way to anger, then even when the world is peaceful and comfortable, peace of mind will elude you.

I'll give peace of mind a piece of my mind 🙇

All things are impermanent; our life breath especially is just like a bubble on a swift-moving stream. The time of our death is uncertain, and we depart alone from this world.

When we learn to let go of wanting something else to happen in this moment we are taking a profound step toward being able to encounter what is here now.

True story. I try and sometimes make it. It make a big difference when you actually try and even bigger when it succeeds.

We don’t perceive the truth of how things actually are directly, without distortion or illusion. Instead, we insist on seeing things as we would like them to be. We tell ourselves stories, and we live in our fantasies. By living in a fantasy we lose control of our life. It’s time to wake up and seek your true self.

This really makes me think of some things science has told us about our brains. What we see with our eyes is not necessarily what is there in reality. It is said its merely what our brain has attempted to assemble together and make sense of in a way we can understand. I would say the same goes with our identity, as you seem to be saying. There is this ideal self we see ourselves as, and there's also the worst of ourselves that we also see ourselves as being. But somewhere in between is who we really are at any given moment.

The good and the bad. The shadow and the light. The dark days of February and the sunny days of May. I think of it as dancing with life, not just trying to control it or figure it out.

Wait, are you saying there is more to life then getting those gold stars!?

Be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. -Max Ehrmann

@brooklin1981 like a picture in a picture. Everything collapses under its own weight. Thats why the real world is round. A circle cant fall in on its self. Its the island we start from. A point of origin. Like a seed. Before male and female. Before the split.

I enjoy a lot the Zen questions. Suspiciously missing in the North American culture , one of my most favorite "Who teaches the Teachers?" and for some Who's on first kind of fun, take away the question mark "Who teaches the Teachers.".

No person, thing, or experience can fill the void of our self-rejection, and none of it will be satisfying until we believe that, just as we are, we are worthy of enjoying it.

The most necessary resource a tree needs to grow is space. When one is full with objects and material values the tree of life has no space to blossom.

We look to all of these other things outside ourselves to feel beautiful and to feel accepted when the whole Tim the only person who can truly allow us to feel these things is staring back at us in the mirror every day.

When we build hard shells and emotional armor to protect us from the suffering of life, we no longer are readily able to experience heartfelt compassion or spontaneous joy.
