This is out of turn, please forgive me, but I have a question about a previous post.

If you don't flirt, how did you hook-up with your boyfriend, or any guy for that matter. How have the men you were involved with known that you were interested in them? Did you flatly state "hey, I like you, lets go out " or when you first had sex "hey lets do it" or did all they guys you have been with just take a stab in the dark because you are hot and you accepted there invitation?

There is flirtation even with-in a relationship. I'm 35, I met my wife when I was 25 and we flirt with one another all the time. It's part of the magic of attraction. When my wife wants to have sex, she flirts with me, flirtation is a queue. Like, "hey baby, lets make something happen." It unleashes an amazing energy, the heat in your breath and the rush of blood that makes your heart pump and your chest heavy.

Several well regarded studies on the dynamics of relationships indicate that it's not only healthy for individuals to flirt with other outside their relationships, it's actually beneficial. You are correct in surmising that flirting gives validation when reciprocated, but it's important to individuals in relationships to feel desired by others, beyond their partner because the bond of a relationship can replace attraction and passion, and humans still need to feel that. Relationship studies have found that individuals get a tremendous boost in flirtation and the bring that energy and excitement back to the relations. It's part of the mechanism that keeps a relationship vital and virile.

I would suggest that if you don't flirt with your boyfriend, something is missing (unless i'm completely misinterpreting your definition of flirting). As far as your boyfreind flirting with others, if your are secure in your feelings about your relationship, it shouldn't matter. If not, I think you have bigger problem.
