Dolly Parton dies at 80. Music legend known for 'Jolene,' more hits

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I can only imagine how important Dolly Parton was to all of us! Yes, she was a sex symbol and I know how important women like her are to Suicide Girls, Hopefuls, and members like me who would always think of her whenever attractive women are needing to be mentioned by name. She died today and the news is shocking for so many reasons even though health problems plagued her and made performances a struggle even though they did continue! And her fans kept her going even though her first major roadblock was the failing health of her husband who sadly died before she did.

Either way, I am one to say that I am still not a huge fan of country music and only turned onto it recently. Even if I never liked it, I still loved Dolly Parton and for all of the things she was. Growing up in rural Tennessee and one of 12 children was already a strike against her, but the gift of her first guitar from her uncle was the major gamechanger! She turned all of her early failures into major successes and told people about them when they needed to be inspired and do better.

Even her movies were fun to watch! Movies like "Steel Magnolias", "9 to 5", and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" made her already large audience have more of her and in ways that even allowed her audience to grow even larger and show her for what she really was: a strong and talented woman who helped women worldwide to find their voice and make them heard.

But the loss is very hard to take! Yes, Dolly Parton was a private person who kept her public life separate from her private life. That's why it is very difficult to know how bad her health problems were and she often censured family members from revealing things to the public who was more worried about her than nosy. Still, it is very hard to imagine what hearing songs like Jolene, 9 to 5, and her covers of Wildwood Flower and Santa Claus is Coming to Town the end of this year will be like now. I can imagine it being hard to hear them because the loss is profound.
