Had another good weekend. Another friend, like a brother, came down from Ohio to visit me on his birthday. We drove to wilmington. Spent some time walking and talking on the beach, then decided to go back to my place rather than find something to do in wilmington. I fixed him a birthday dinner (vegetarian mexican) on Satruday and walnut wheat pancakes in the morning....

for amateur paragliding, you're strapped in front of a pro... but because they like to torture pgliding virgins and because you're in front, they make you decide when to run off the cliff. they do the steering in the air, but a good pro will let you try your hand at it. when landing, you have to lean forward like this:
or the chute will pull you down on your ass. (that's actually me and the pro strapped to my back, pushing.)

sounds like you had a nice weekend. i don't know where mine went. hung out with some friends for St. Patty's day but nothing too wild. saw my dad who was up from Florida on saturday. worked saturday night. ran errands on sunday. yay, go team.

I went to the outerbanks of NC this past weekend to visit a friend who was vacationing there wth his family. The stupid ass directions had me drive thru VA and then back down the cost, which as it turns out was way unncessary since the directs back which i didn't look at until i got to VA, cut across about half way. But since...

Dear god. Your pee experience sounded awful.

How were the Outer Banks? I've never been there but my boyfriend insists we go this summer. I think he wants us to live there b/c he hasn't discovered the link between job availability and ability to pay rent in a given location.

Nothing sucks worse than an all day drive straight back to school/work......argh.

haha no,not a SG perk.i'm doing promotions in houston for the show, they're giving me 2 tickets for payment.

I am taking a trip this weekend to the outerbanks to vist a friend who is vacationing there. I can't see them until Sunday, so due to the cost of staying in a hotel where they are, I am going to stop in Virginia overnight. Should be fun weekend.

I still haven't finished my drawings. I'm going to have to bust ass tonight and tomorrow...

did you ever notice that sometimes life sucks for no reason whatsoever. Mostly when you just avoid living it. Like I am doing right now. Yup, that's right. If it weren't for this damn breathing heart pounding brain activity and laws of physics shit I wouldn't even exist. The worst part is I can't figure out why I am avoiding it.

I've been downloading music,...

i mentioned Neko after looking at the music you already like and trying to think of someone else you could download. to be perfectly honest, i mostly listen to her after i've smoked a little because it creates a wonderful mood. so, when it comes down to it, i don't know her music inside-and-out because i never listen to it totally sober. i just thought she'd be a nice addition. the funny thing about Tricky is that i keep saying "hey, i really should get into this guy, i bet i'd love him" and i'll listen to a few clips online and get all excited, and then as soon as i get to the record store, my mind goes blank. any particular recommendations?

you'll have to let me know what you decide about Buddhism. i'd love to find something in it, but i'm so disillusioned with every named religion. i have a little pocket book of the Tao which i'd crack opent o any page and read from time to time, till i finally started in the beginning and found i disliked a lot of what it said - keeping the masses ignorant for the greater happiness. maybe i'm too western for that, but it pricked my sense of indviduality and desire to learn. too bad.

you know, i'd say i get to King's Island about every other year, but i thought they still had the canoes last time i went. didn't ride them because, as i've gotten older, i find wandering around the park with squishy shoes and heavy jeans to be less enjoyable. and unfortunately, i burned that calendar a long time ago. no trace of those bloody months, thank god. i'd rather pretend that year never existed.

a-hem, you want the gory details? the London Double-Decker is a homemade invention involving yours truly, face down helping herself to... herself, with someone else sitting on top, helping as well and also helping him/herself. there's probably no good way of explaining it, and i'm NOT posting sketches! eeek think you can figure it out? wink

The journal updates just for about everyone I read (including my own) seem to have slowed down to the point where's it's been a week or more in between posts. Personally, I don't have as much time as I once did. But as I've said before, SG is more about looking at some hot titties, more than making friends. I really find the people that...

well, i thoroughly enjoyed your drawings and your writing - even if you aren't thrilled with them. i find i'm my own worst critic, and i think that's true for most of the creative family. i used to be much more into the visual arts than writing, but i started psyching myself out to the point where i could hardly pick up a pencil to sketch. the one exception is a painting i gave to my fiance for christmas - a photo of it is in my "misc." folder. it felt so great, and i was actually happy with it, but then i got too busy to start something else before i ran out of steam. oh well, it will only take another 6 years.

ball state is in Muncie, so i'm not sure which school you're talking about... perhaps Marion or IUPUI? no biggie. and it's funny how you describe your relationship with indiana, because that's how i've always been with ohio. my dad lived in cincy for awhile, i went to school in oxford, a long-term boyfriend lived in medina, and a good deal of my school friends were from there, not to mention my license plates! though when it comes down to it, it's really very much the same as indiana.

what's the weather like way out/down there?

I am beginning to realize that it's just not the place for it. I guess words are for myspace and being that...

Awesome. So now I can hide stuff but not really hide it just to be annoying! Thanks for tip.

Thanks for the compliment, too. Of course I take hundreds of pictures to get a couple good ones, but that's generally how it works. As much as I hated getting a digital camera, it has saved me lots of money. Pretty darn handy. I, too, love it when people can share a little speck of unexpected beauty.

And you could always [spoiler] your fiction, couldn't you? Then no one would have to read it who didn't want to.... just a thought. Like I said, excerpts are always good.

I just noticed that I haven't been as self consciously apprehensively lately. I don't know if I have failed to really stop to take a closer look or if I've just been caught up in the happenings of art school to notice.

reading some comments by Lambda, I began to see something that I've been ignoring. There's a certain shame and sense of wrongness to...

I stayed late after drawing class lastnight to complete some inking on an assignment; had good conversation with a young guy who stayed to finish his sketch. We talked about music reality and the beyond. It's the first connection I've made with anyone that actually promises to be a cool person since I started school again.

around 1am a friend popped up to say hi....

"what the heck does that have to do with bacon? "

Maybe it's just my politik coming through. It's the "bacon on everything" that really caught my attention... too much of a good thing? There's a reason organic meat is sooo expensive. The reason is that we don't pay the true price of factory meat in many ways, ecological and otherwise.

rigormortis posted this quote yesterday. I don't know who its from, but i like it...

"The problem with cadavers is that they look so much like people. It's the reason most of us prefer a pork chop to a slice of whole suckling pig. It's the reason we say 'pork' and 'beef' instead of 'pig' and 'cow.' Dissection and surgical instruction, like meat-eating, require a carefully maintained set of illusions and denial."

If bacon tastes good (i agree), I feel like venison tastes better. And since we killed off all the wolves these past 200-odd years, the deer and elk are wrecking havoc on our forests. Predators are necessary within natural systems. If we're gonna eat meat, we would do best to be those predators, and predators never eat too much smile

I guess my appeal is for living within, and not on top of, our frame, ecological and otherwise.

I'm glad you found someone cool to talk to at school!
