Couple weeks ago my friend of 7 years, Cathy, decided to tell me that she just realized she liked me as more than just a friend. We met at school and I like to say that we got together and broke up the on the same day, but the truth is it was never a real relationship. Seven years of occasional hanging-out (or awkward dates, if you will), where people mistook us for a couple all the time, and she'd get frustrated. Seven years of her having to be friends with my girlfriends, and trying to get me to be friends with her boyfriends...

I asked her what made her realize this... she told me that when we hung out recently at South Street, I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, which I didn't wear in college... and that's what made her realize this! I want to call her shallow, but I know what she means; I was different back then and not what she was looking for. Nonetheless... Jesus Christ how shallow.

It was obvious to everyone but her that she had a pretty serious crush on me. She's always desperate to find a guy, and so she wanted me to check some possibilities on her OKcupid account (bleh)... so what's she put under 'What I'm looking for?'... she says she's like "nerdy guys with pretty blue eyes" (me). Her favorite movies? ones I've shown her. Her favorite books? anything I've recommended. Okay its a slight exaggeration, but its still way too close for comfort... especially when she specifically wanted me to see her profile.

I really do love her and being around her, just not in a rational/stable relationship kind of way. She's crazy... I probably should have mentioned that sooner... utterly batshit crazy when it comes to relationships. Still love her though... from a distance.
