in less than a week's time, my 92 year old grandmother has gone from being a cranky, mean old woman to a lucid, 3 year old. it's very frightening. she has to go to a home. my poor father has to find a home for his mother because she can't take care of herself anymore.
dementia, they're calling it.

mom got sliced open and had her insides taken out yesterday.
all went well. on to phase 2.
i'm picking up my 'new' car tonight.
it's a sunfire, timmie...don't be mad, it fits my budget. in 3 years you can help me pick out a better, safer, more grown-up ride. okay?

Hmmm...it's been a while since I was referred to as a "lady" - but I assume you were able to find my address since one of those packages HAS to be for me.....right?

quiescence:
Oh, I nearly forgot. *bite*
i'm getting these. this means you may see me skating 'round the trail by the jail. (ha! i rhymed.) i'm in search of terry shorts with white piping and a cut-up sweat shirt. i may also bring back the claw, for roller skating purposes alone.
given my proclivity for injury, i'd be wise to invest in knee pads, ankle and wrist braces as well....

Ahh yes, arns. I'm actually a little surprised sometimes how well I remember the Pittsburghese.
I'm stoked Pamela's is still going... My wife is a big fan of both grease and pancakes, and man were those some greasy pancakes. Great, though.

a few of us are going to the moose around 10 ish.
wow... i know i don't have much of a fan base here, but you guys were seriously lacking on the poetry front...all i got was some lovecraft and what i believe was some homegrown from big d.
i'm beginning to see just how much i'm socially lacking.
but at the same time, think that perhaps i should maintain my avoidance of human contact a bit...

i miss you my pet...remember days in monessen, breaking arms and drinking cheap beer and bloody bandages, and boys with mohawks, and smoking in the pizza shop
those my friend, were the days that we will look back on and say "those were the days"

Well, in my usual lack of journal update-y goodness, I missed the original request for poetry, but here's a bit of something of mine:
Untitled:
We played at war with pretty things.
Chrysanthemums,
catterpillars,
cascades of champagne mangroves.
Gunpowder, tame and parti-coloured
boom/pop/whistled-
heard 'round our TVs.
We set free fire flies one night,
for all the world to see,
to run and glory with sparklers,
down all the alls of power,
around the tick of time.
Simple, happy children
building castles in the air
of smoke and thunder,
from which to rule the world.

lend me poetry that has moved you.
teach me something.

Why should I fret in microcosmic bonds
That chafe the spirit and the mind repress
When through the clouds gleam beckoning beyonds
Whose shining vistas mock man's littleness
Phaeton by H.P. Lovecraft
I don't usually go for poetry , but I've been digging Lovecraft since I started reading his stuff WAAAAAAAAAAY back in junior high . As for the above selection , it just always stuck with me . I don't profess to know EXACTLY what it means , but to me it means we're just a tiny part of the universe , and if we manage to keep that fact in mind and put everything in perspective , there's NO problem worth really worrying yourself to death about . That particular notion has gotten me through some rather unpleasant times in my life . So I guess it moved me...forward .

i was on unemployment for a period of time tax year 2003. for whatever brain fart of a reason, i didn't claim my UI. well, thank god for the IRS, cause they sent me a letter informing me of my mistake and kindly asking for their $763. one more payment to add to the monthly bills. *this unfortunate experience caused me to take note of...

Deeply touching that after months of chill interstices you are able to still hold some regard for my intermittent flirtations...
Planning on visiting Boston anytime soon?
In the interests of quivering your cockles, perhaps you'd care to comment on your reaction to this little bit I wrote...
Extromission-
______________
Slide in through my eyes
and coil round my mind
Slick insinuation to my receptivity
Narcissistic omnipresence-
a mandorla of the self
mandates contemplation
of your grave image
A lapse into undue latria
my sin and predeliction
Lady, grant me grace
Oh, and check out my new pics...

Yep , the twins from The Shining were in there . They freaked me out too . Creepy lil bitches .
Glad all was well in MI . Just some general disgruntlement ? It happens . It's best to know that MOST people like you . If they don't , they're probably mentaly challenged bed-wetting pyromaniacs or something equally unpleasant . Who wants to be liked by THEM anyway ?

lewis black was good, so was his opener...john something or another. however, john something or another seems to have spent a little too much time with lewis black and i hope he can find a little more of his own style.
