I apologize in advance for the sad blog.
On my first day at high school, I met a boy. We were both really shy and introverted, so it took a while for us to trust each other, but we soon realized we had much in common. We talked a lot about books and music, played chess or just sat on the parking lot reading in silence.
After 3 years of friendship, he asked to talk to me in private. He then told me he was in love with me and leaned in for a kiss. I didn't know what to do, so I backed away, said "I'm sorry" and ran back to class. After that we hardly spoke for the rest of the year.
We got in the same college, but I was too embarrased to look for him, even though he was always on my mind. It took me over a year to get the courage to go looking for him. However, it was too late. After weeks of asking around and talking to strangers, I found out that he had passed away a few months before. Only then I realized I was in love with him.
I'm okay now, but sometimes I find myself wondering what could have happened if I didn't have backed away from that kiss.
