I don't use the word "brilliant" lightly, but people from the U.K. do. Have you ever seen that animated TV commercial- I forget what it's for- but it has these two blokes, one with a big bushy mustache, talking about coming up with the recipe or something for this product, So one guys starts talking, and the mustache guy screams BRILLIANT! Then the guy starts talking again, and again mustache guy screams BRILLIANT! And so forth. It's hilarious.

BRILLIANT!

Fashion Week started today in New York City.

Fashion Week news on New York magazine's website.

So I was just listening to a good compilation called New York Chill on a promo CD from radio station cd101.9, which I got for free when going to a release party for a new CD by DJ Louie Vega (from the fantastic remix team Masters At Work); the compilation has kind of jazzy, laid back stuff like Thievery Corporation's Richest Man In Babylon. Right now I'm listening to Paul van Dyk's CD 45 RPM, a nicely-done little Trance album in his signature style.

RPM stands for Revolutions Per Minute. It is a measurement of the speed at which the record spins (i.e. 45, 33 1/3, 78). The Beatles' Revolver album for instance refers not to a pistol, but rather to revolutions- as in, the earth and every planet and its moons each revolve upon their axis, moons are satellites of the planets they in turn revolve around, and Earth and all the planets in the solar system revolve around the sun.

Here comes the sun.

BPM stands for Beats Per Minute. It is a measurement of the number of beats in each minute of playing time; useful for Disc Jockeys or Turntablists who mix or scratch records (or any variation of such for non-Turntablist or Scratch/Battle DJs, from CDs to computer files).

DJ Sasha is a classically trained musician, and put these skills to work when remixing (to the point of nearly rewriting) artists such as James Lavelle (U.N.K.L.E.) for Sasha's B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T new CD Involver. It is a cohesive, painstakingly structured album of Progressive- and nearly Ambient- vocal and instrumental House music grooves of immense beauty.

DJ Sasha will be performing at Crobar in NYC tonight as part of his new bi-coastal monthly residencies at Crobar NY and Avalon Hollywood. He will be using his new custom-made "Fundacion" controller to mix and RE-mix music LIVE and on the fly.

Revolve.

my digital camera is a Canon powershot A85 - i like it becuase it has all the manual features my Canon rebel 2000 has. i can leave the shutter open, play with apature etc... its nice. when i do my dj sets (when i am not using turntables) - i use a simple program - sound forge 5.0 and Acid Pro 3.0. its all i need for doing sets, or even messing around with my original tracks.
