an excerpt from a day in the life of a cable installer...
" first job of the day...
i went to a womans apt. #c100 she was in her mid 40's maybe. in a wheelchair and pretty heavyset. salmon coloured mumu, with white florals. kinda funny smell in the place, but she had a fan on. she was a bit bitchy at first, but warmed up after i hooked her up. we chatted a bit over paperwork and then when i asked for the cod of $43.85, she pulled a sweaty $44 from between her swollen ankle and stretched out sock.
eewww,
later that day...
i was in a quiet neighborhood. well kept. alot of rvs in carports, and well manicured lawns. i was working in a ped, when an older man in coveralls, and a leafblower comes to me and says " WHO DO I CALL ABOUT ALL THE GODDAMNED QUEERS ON TV?!"
caught off guard, i asked " excuse me?"
" THE GODDAMNED QUEERS. ON TV. WHO DO I CALL ABOUT THAT?!"
" you mean...like...homosexuals?" (it wasen't sinking in)
"WHAT ELSE WOULD I MEAN? I DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT CRAP. I CAN'T FLIP THROUGH THE CHANNELS WITHOUT SEEING WOMEN KISSING EACH OTHER AND...men..........WHY DO THEY GOTTA SHOW THAT? WHO WANTS TO SEE THAT CRAP?"
being the company man i am
" well, you know we're not responsible for the programming, and tv really justs reflects the rest of what's really going on. i guess you could write to bravo. they have 'queer eye for the straight guy', but that's a really popular show, so i guess there are people that do want to see that."
then he went on about "forcing their lifestyle on him" and how " there's nothing but homo couples..."
i asked he if he meant to say he didn't see any of the 'heterosexual dynamic' or 'families' on tv, and of course he said there weren't any.
eventually he realized he must be talking to a 'goddamned queer' and walked of muttering to himself.
the beauty of the whole thing was TURBONEGRO's ' rendevous with anus' and "i got erection", coming from the workvan.
beautiful.
last job of the day...
i went to trailer # 47 in the aero trailer park. it was an old singlewide in the middle of a remodel. new paint. new carpet.the whole bit. i needed to replace an outlet because it was losing 20+ db between the ground block and the dct. i pull off the trailers skirts and get ready to crawl underneath, when the owner askes me if i really need to do that. he says they have been finding needles and syringes all over the place from the last tenants, and there's no telling what's under the place. anyway...i found the problem. rats chewed up the cable.
...and that is what pays my bills and buys my drink.
btw. my jeep blew its radiator on the way home.
