my day was great.
do you remember your first bike?
mine was an old schwinn stringray that my dad had put together for me one summer while i was visiting my grandparents. that was one of the coolest things anyones ever done for me. i loved that bike.
i moved away and it got sold and i have been looking for one like it for the last 12 years. they're really hard to find and i had had all but given up on finding one.
there is this one man in this town who fixes up bikes and sells them cheap. some of them are awesome. i asked him if he ever came across old stingray frames. he said i was the 1000th person to ask and in the 10 yrs he'd been at it he'd never gotten one.
so.today i'm at work, driving along in the middle of bfe, and i see a bike in the bushes up on this hill. somehow i knew exactly what it was. this bike is the same colour as my old one, and it even has more of the original parts. i am stupid happy right now. i've already been too the bike shop and started ordering parts.
the other cool thing ( i'll keep this short). i found an old set of leather saddle bags for a motorcycle in a shed out in the woods by some burned out house. i went to take a closer look thinking i might procure them for a friend. inside is what looked like a nest of some sort, and in the other bag was a nest full of bald baby birds. how cool is that? i dumped them out and kept the bag.
kidding. i'm going to go back later in the spring.
i also found in the house a book about einstein, and another book full of mathematical tables.

but then statistics show that almost half college students are binge drinkers... so at least i'm in good company.
