Oh man I think my new-ish job really is pretty awesome. I actually got my time off request last weekend - spent three days in San Diego with friends at Kingdom-Con! And this weekend I might have been able to swing a weekend shift that'll let me go to Covenant & Grendal (& two opening bands I'm unfamiliar with). Dis amazing. Gotta listen for dat...

Well Grendal Covenant was a super fun show (Grendal was honestly, too loud, I couldn't follow along to most of their songs so just ended up that head nob at the bar for awhile) both of the openers - Peter Turns Pirate and Ghostfeeder - were a real treat as well. Covenant was, as usual, amazing. They opened with a soundscape that was unlike anything I'd heard before. Even  though it was a familiar enough thing to have in an industrial set, this was fucking complicated and super subtle and I really hope it makes it way onto one of their albums or a sampler even if, even if, it won't be the same without the lights and reverberations of a concert in a converted warehouse.

Hooray! My storming the base order came in yesterday while I was at work. Here is a very incoherent and excited video (unpacking footage) of me unwrapping a gift for myself. Which I described as my birthday present about two months late. It's just a gift. For me. From me. Maybe a little bit for my friends.

I mean this wasn't going to be accurate about me in any case as I do not partake. But I'm still frustrated by having an inaccurate horoscope once again describe other people. One of these days a Horoscope will accurate describe a more sedate and boring Pisces. But until then. :^ p

Somebody said "Heeeeeeeey" to me and I automatically said "Heeeeeeeeey" back like we were all very familiar with each other. I'm not sure I have any idea who they were and now I'm going to be on Hiiiiiiiiiii alert.

Hope it's inspiring and supportive https://www.tor.com/2018/04/09/the-bodies-of-the-girls-who-made-me-fanfic-and-the-modern-world/?utm_source=exacttarget&utm_medium=newsletter because that is definitely Seanan McGuire's modus operpendie. I admit that at least 1% of the motivation for this post was just giggling at my own pun.

There's a spider on my desk and it's not going away when I blow canned air at it. I don't want to squish it, but I will. I will. So help me Anasazi.

I'm a touch bemused by the "surprised" people express about the utter absence of privacy from Facebook which I have tried to explain before. But I learned some more about the use of the data and yeah, okay, I get it. You are shocked. The upside of course is that with all the shocking revelations about your life that have been shared for profit margins...

I heard this interview / pod cast on a local college radio show last weekend and I've been waiting for a response to my request for an uploaded version I could listen to at home. I just saw the e-mail when I got home and I'm already queuing it up. It'll take a little bit to get going but I hope you can take the...

Re: Black Panther (generalized spoilers)

An incredibly impressive plot with characters who are driven by understandable and empathized motives. All of the supporting cast was given roles with a large impact and no one was denigrated in the dialog that wasn't already established as having a character conflict. In a surprising twist I actually felt that the "super hero" parts of the film were the...
