I am debating calling in sick to work on Sunday. It's fucking Halloween. I asked for the day off on the 2nd and STILL didn't get it. Ugh. Wal-Mart has ruined every holiday for me - they are NOT going to ruin Halloween! Assholes.
We're having a Halloween party for the customers tomorrow, and some of us are helping out and dressing up. I am going to be a retail zombie, with slashes up the insides of my arms. HA.
Here are two Halloween stories for you:
When I was really little - probably in preschool or so - my mother dressed me up as a witch for trick-or-treat. I had a cute little black dress with cobwebs printed along the hem, and a pointy hat. I also had a mask, but my mother wanted to try her hand at makeup first, just to see how it would turn out.
So she did my makeup in the bathroom, and was really happy with her handiwork, and she turned me around to look at myself in the mirror. I proceeded to freak the fuck out. I screamed and started to cry, and my mother calmed me down just enough to take my picture, then wash my face. That picture is still floating around somewhere. The makeup did look pretty cool.
Many years later, when I was in fourth grade, my cousin Holli was going to come trick-or-treating with us. She was in high school at the time, and my youngest brother was old enough to walk, but not old enough to talk. He was dressed up as a little jack-o-lantern, with a hat that had a stem poking out the top.
Anyway, Holli was dressing up as a "prom queen" with a hideously deformed face. She had a latex mask with a giant nose and warts and crazy blue hair. She was getting ready in the living room, and had put on her mask. My little brother turned around to look at her (probably because I was making a big fuss over how awesome her mask was) and screamed out "BAAH!". I'm not sure why we found this so hilarious, but we still tell that story and laugh. It's probably because it was the closest thing that he had produced to an actual word, at least at the time. Funny.
Those cookies I mentioned last entry were very good. I think I'm going to buy that Pumkin bread mix again, and if I do, I'll copy the recipe off of the box and post it. ^_-
