TODAY SUCKED.
Today at work one of my managers asked me to go to Back To School and straighten the aisles.
This is not as glamorous as it sounds.
I spent an hour and a half just re-organizing half a shelf of planners and folders. There was country music playing on the PA. A little boy who wanted a lunchbox his mother wouldn't buy was stamping his feet and making that whiny, snarly noise little kids make when they're being brats. I had made almost no progress when I turned to the end of the aisle to look at the spot where the locker accessories were hanging.
I never had locker accessories in high school. Mirrors or magnets or any of that crap. And as I stared down this section of the aisle, my rage was rolling to a slow boil.
Because on the wall of the shelf where the pegs hang, there was a lot of merchandise, but there was even more on the shelf below it, because customers are too lazy to hang anything back up after they've taken it down.
So I started hanging these mirrors and organizing pockets and garbage back up. The pile slowly went down. And when I was about a quarter of the way through, I grabbed an item and noticed it was damp.
"What the....?"
The next thing underneath that was wet, too. And then I realized something....
Something smelled.
I sniffed my hand and realized it was PEE that was all over the stuff laying on the shelf, and when I pinched the item on the bottom of the pile between my fingers to lift it and look underneath, I realized that all of this merchandise - all of this junk I had been digging through for five minutes - had been dropped DIRECLTLY ON a puddle of pee.
PEE! I PUT MY HANDS IN A STRANGER'S PEE!
What the hell is this?! There are THREE FUCKING BATHROOMS in that store! I expect people to at least act like human beings when they shop and now I can't even expect that.
God, I hate my job.

And Roy Orbison is awesome. No shame there at all, I own his greatest hits, and I highly recommend it.
