So I spent the first couple of days in a hotel simply because I flew in at hell o'clock in the morning on a week day and didn't want to cause my relatives issues. I organised a local mobile connection and broadband, then strolled around the CBD looking at the differences between Perth and Auckland. There are a lot of them. While it has a smaller population Auckland has a much busier CBD. There is almost a convenience store on every second corner compared to Perth's every fifth corner. The processed/cooked food is cheaper even though the raw materials are approximately the same cost I suspect because the shop rent in Perth might be significantly higher as well as buyer density lower. It's also steeper all over because Perth is Flatland. I had tired legs :)
