I totally agree on there being no need for 3 Hobbit films, even the cast thought they were only making 2 films:

Martin Freeman was being interviewed in the run up to the British release of The Hobbit and he revealed that they'd made 2 films and were having a big wrap party because they'd thought they were finished. They were told at that party that they were making 3 films, so they'd have to return for more filming.
This was the major thing that pissed me off, because the book's less than 300 pages - clearly not enough material for 3 films, even if they copied the book word for word, They're including bits from The Silmarillion to flesh out the story a bit (hence Galadriel's presence).
Clearly they're trying to tie it in to LOTR as much as possible - this was evident from the intro with old Bilbo talking to Frodo on the morning of Bilbo's EleventyFirst birthday.
I even read that Orlando Bloom was reprising his role from LOTR - WTF? Legolas had nothing to do with the events of The Hobbit - unless they include him in the Battle of Five Armies or something...

Family huh? Born for adversity. I have a drunk and disorderly sis as well as a recovered drug addict sis who thinks that Mother Theresa is a dick chugging slut compared to her now she's got her shit together.
