Well, I am forcing myself to update. I have been in an uncommunicative mood lately.

I just hit replay on the new PJ harvey, and trying to decide if I should break the seal on the second beer... not much of a dilemma...

Got back into town on Tuesday. BC was... good. I did the race, did not meet my goals, but did better than...

Ugh! What crappy weather. Bike sweeps yesterday got unpleasant quite fast with all the rain. I did two 25km loops--was out on the course almost five hours. Some runners were faster than me!
pixilated101:
if I got passed by a runner while I was on the bike...I would keep my mouth shut about it...so if this has ever happened to me you will never know... wink

We have the JFK 50 miler here in November and if I'm off work, I think I'm going to volunteer for it just to see what someone looks like after running 50 miles....maybe I will do this race someday...yea right, I already have loose plans to do the race which means I will do the race....just not this year....
pixilated101:
where are you hiding...?

Seven days until I head to British Columbia; eleven days until race!

So, 1/2 Ironman in Oliver. Goals:
Swim 46 minutes
Bike 2 hours 49 minutes
Run 1 hour 45 minutes
Total 5 hours 20 minutes
I will be happy with 5:30, and expect about 5:45.
For comparison, I did Great White North 1/2 Ironman in 5:59:54 last July.

I need a new environment. My...

Wow. Busy guy. Good luck with the Ironman. I'm sure you'll do great.

How have you been?
pixilated101:
best of luck...if I find the website I will be checking your results...so you won't be able to puff up your times... wink

Back in town. I headed down to Red Deer for a marathon on Sunday. I wimped out and only did the half marathon.

Goal: >1:40

Result: 1:41:33

whatever

Need to get ready for work. If I feel inspired I will write a race report later...
pixilated101:
you are weak and need to be punished... skull

my last time for 14miles before my vacation was 1:52:00...so I guess 1:41:33 ain't too bad considering you wimped out on the full distance... biggrin

What makes you push yourself beyond your limits?

This ? could take the rest of yours and my life to fully answer.

Some short points:

1. I have never been to the doctor, but I suspect that if I did I would be diagnosed as mildly depressed => I have the need for self punishment.

2. I am a Nerd => I feel the need to answer ?'s that come to me, like can I complete an iron distance event.

3. Addiction: most people that continue to workout describe the desire to work out like an addiction. I'm no different.

4. Back to I'm a Nerd => I enjoy the mental aspect of working out to the max...the mind quits long before the body...is my mind strong enough to push my body to new limits?

These are specific to me...I don't really have anything to tell people on how to motivate themselves.

Triathlete magazine came today. It is the annual Swim Spectacular--which means chicks in bathing suits. Chicks who could crush me. One is 26 years old, and has done the Hawaii Ironman eight times!

I am actually perusing the pictures with an eye on how utilitarian and functional the attire is. Twenty-three product shots, seventeen for women and six for men. Probably the reverse of...

I don't have any drive anymore to do more than really a few hours of tasks and the rest of work is filled with being mediocrily bored and in a daze....but I am starting a job of selling knives now. Which is cool, they're amazingly awesome knives. ^_^
I don't have anything special to write, whatever pen in avail. usually the opaque medium blue bics (I don't know what you have in the US actually..haha), and my journal. It just happens..
I only write poetry either in blind rage or complete numbness.
I journal basically daily.

frown

I need to get drunk. Or at least overcome some of my inhibitions.
I find it difficult to just be--to find the potential of the moment. I am a prisoner of my expectations, delusions, and fears.

No inspiration at the moment. I have rewritten that initial diatribe numerous times.
I find typing out my thoughts to be... rife with revision. I use the delete button...

Took the cat into the vet's this afternoon. Kitty has a canine at a weird angle and too much tartar--which probably means cavities. I guess your pet is a reflection of yourself--I had seven cavities my last check-up.

So, Kitty is on canned food until the surgery on Monday. I should have switched her over to canned a long time ago--but I am a confirmed...

Haha!

Tonight was the last race in the x-country race series. It was 4.95 km. I had two goals. Finish under 20 minutes (21:25 last year), and finish ahead of a certain individual (he has passed me mid-way in the last three races and beaten me by 40-60 seconds).

Time = 20:00
He beat me by 1 second.

Oh well, there is always the fall...

My 2 best ever 5K times are 20:01 and 20:03....I don't think I would run near that now... frown

Races are the only way truely see where you stand... whatever

I need to get out one weekend and do a race...if even just a run not at tri...I don't know about you, but where I'm at there are not many tri's close by and I don't feel like driving 2+ hours just to do a sprint distance...

I would say close enough on both goals...next time trip the guy... wink

The road trip did rock. Unfortunately between travelling to Duncan the day before my digi cam was dead the way there. But I bought film and hopefully will get some cool stuff up o_O
It snowed for 7 hours of a 13 hour drive. over the canadian rockies....in may...i love this country.
I used to be a sprinter in school. Then I broke, well, shattered my knee...I rowed for a while after that...then couldn't anymore...I've been told it's best to ride a bike over walking anywhere, or swim if at all possible...
confused
I walk everywhere, have never owned a car, or gotten my license. Meh. Strong calves! biggrin
