"Indolence is a delightful but distressing state; we must be doing something to be happy." -- Mahatma Gandhi
Finally got off my ass and did a run. I bought another speed+distance watch (last one ended up on the bottom of a lake). Measure my regular loop today = 7.304 km. Did that in my usual pedestrian pace.
If the soccer match becomes boring I will head over to the pool before work!
Another 1/2 Ironman in less than 10 days!

today was also good...it was an off day...and off days always kick ass...
I just come home from work and kick back with some cold ones and no worries about working out...
This my easy week so most of the rest of the week should go fine also...I have a 2500yard swim, a 30mile bike, and an 8 mile run left for the week...then back to real training...

Just got off work--the night shift once again. Something has gotta change. The attitude or the circumstances.
I use to feel...like I exceeded expectations. Now I merely feel adequate. The sexual tension is also becoming tiresome. Why must I always fixate on the unattainable?
Slowing moving all my crap upstairs. The plan: rent out the basement. The problem: no desire to interview potential cohabitants.

ugh...
5AM--unable to sleep.
I wish my body would decide if I am sick or not. Slight headache, sniffles and a scratchy throat the last two days...and sneezing!
I have set a dangerous precedent. I slept through my race on Sunday. I think my current malaise is due to my recent inactivity. Need to get off my lazy ass!
Needed: renter for my basement.

Why it sucks having no friends, reason #27: much harder to move furniture.
pixilated101:
I have a similar reason for not having much furniture...not that I don't have friends, but I hate asking for help....I would rather struggle with something for an hour to get it up 2 flights of stairs than call a friend to help and have it take 10min...I'm all about self-sufficiency...
I just noticed I could flag...
Well, I am forcing myself to update. I have been in an uncommunicative mood lately.
I just hit replay on the new PJ harvey, and trying to decide if I should break the seal on the second beer... not much of a dilemma...
Got back into town on Tuesday. BC was... good. I did the race, did not meet my goals, but did better than...

Ugh! What crappy weather. Bike sweeps yesterday got unpleasant quite fast with all the rain. I did two 25km loops--was out on the course almost five hours. Some runners were faster than me!
pixilated101:
if I got passed by a runner while I was on the bike...I would keep my mouth shut about it...so if this has ever happened to me you will never know...
We have the JFK 50 miler here in November and if I'm off work, I think I'm going to volunteer for it just to see what someone looks like after running 50 miles....maybe I will do this race someday...yea right, I already have loose plans to do the race which means I will do the race....just not this year....

Seven days until I head to British Columbia; eleven days until race!
So, 1/2 Ironman in Oliver. Goals:
Swim 46 minutes
Bike 2 hours 49 minutes
Run 1 hour 45 minutes
Total 5 hours 20 minutes
I will be happy with 5:30, and expect about 5:45.
For comparison, I did Great White North 1/2 Ironman in 5:59:54 last July.
I need a new environment. My...

Back in town. I headed down to Red Deer for a marathon on Sunday. I wimped out and only did the half marathon.
Goal: >1:40
Result: 1:41:33
Need to get ready for work. If I feel inspired I will write a race report later...

you are weak and need to be punished...
my last time for 14miles before my vacation was 1:52:00...so I guess 1:41:33 ain't too bad considering you wimped out on the full distance...

What makes you push yourself beyond your limits?
This ? could take the rest of yours and my life to fully answer.
Some short points:
1. I have never been to the doctor, but I suspect that if I did I would be diagnosed as mildly depressed => I have the need for self punishment.
2. I am a Nerd => I feel the need to answer ?'s that come to me, like can I complete an iron distance event.
3. Addiction: most people that continue to workout describe the desire to work out like an addiction. I'm no different.
4. Back to I'm a Nerd => I enjoy the mental aspect of working out to the max...the mind quits long before the body...is my mind strong enough to push my body to new limits?
These are specific to me...I don't really have anything to tell people on how to motivate themselves.

Triathlete magazine came today. It is the annual Swim Spectacular--which means chicks in bathing suits. Chicks who could crush me. One is 26 years old, and has done the Hawaii Ironman eight times!

I don't have any drive anymore to do more than really a few hours of tasks and the rest of work is filled with being mediocrily bored and in a daze....but I am starting a job of selling knives now. Which is cool, they're amazingly awesome knives. ^_^
I don't have anything special to write, whatever pen in avail. usually the opaque medium blue bics (I don't know what you have in the US actually..haha), and my journal. It just happens..
I only write poetry either in blind rage or complete numbness.
I journal basically daily.

I need to get drunk. Or at least overcome some of my inhibitions.
I find it difficult to just be--to find the potential of the moment. I am a prisoner of my expectations, delusions, and fears.
No inspiration at the moment. I have rewritten that initial diatribe numerous times.
I find typing out my thoughts to be... rife with revision. I use the delete button...
