This is Kkao San Road, ground-zero for newbie backpackers. I came into town yesterday to spend a couple days shopping for souvenirs. It's a crazy chaotic place to be, and really not terribly desirable, but it's a great place to find cheap gifts to mail home.

Where exactly though, I'm not sure. Part of me wants to rush to the deep south and check out new places – Malaysia and Singapore. I love to explore, discover new cultures and see places I've never been before.

I've spent an entire week in Mae Sai. Tomorrow I hit the road to the next destination.

It was an unlikely place to spend a week, just a little border town in the far north of Thailand, but it was good to just stay still for a while. And I found a nice, cheap bungalow, where I could sit and stare at a magnificent view....
