Like I mentioned in the last post, I've given up the island paradise.
I could it was because the island got boring after a while, or was too expensive, or the food was too bland, or being surrounded by all those pampered tourists got to me after a while – all of which are true – but the sad fact is, a week ago a very loud gecko moved into my bungalow.
Nothing could be done to get rid of it. And so I had to leave. Ah well. It was getting boring, and was craving cultural experiences, so it's really good to be on the road again.
Still, I celebrated Christmas and the New Year there and I met a great bunch of people – both travellers and locals – and I am glad I spent a month there.
Now following 30 hours of hard travel, I'm resting in Lopburi for a few days. This is a city overrun with temples and monkeys and I'm photos of both tomorrow. From here the plan is to continue north and check out several places I've never been before, and then to go into Laos for a month.
I should have internet most days for a while, so I'll be posting lots!
