I'm now in Thailand, and I'll be here for the next six months!
The above photo is of the ruins of Sukhothai (Thailand) and below is the Mekong River at Vientiane (Laos), from when I was here a few years ago.
It was an incredibly tiring journey to get here. First a 15-hour flight from Toronto to Shanghai, followed by a three-hour layover and then another five-hour flight to Bangkok. Once reaching Thailand I hung out in the airport for five hours, till I could catch the LRT train into the city at 6am (I'm on a very low budget and it's the cheap option). From there I walked about 4km to the real train station, then caught a train to Ayuthaya, an ancient ruin-strewn capital, two hours north of Bangkok. I walked to a good guesthouse I know, got a room, and promptly fell asleep.
All told, 38 hours from leaving home to arriving at the guesthouse. It's a horrendous stretch of journeying to make, but it has to be done. Now I'm in Thailand and I'm here for three reasons:
1. To avoid Canadian winter.
2. Find a quite place to get some writing done.
3. To live cheap in a beautiful, cultured place.
And all my goals will be met. It may be a bit of an expense to get here, but in Thailand I can easily get by on a budget of $20/day. I'll also go into a few neighbouring countries like Laos and Malaysia while I'm here.
The only real drawback is there's a lack of Suicide Girls here, so I probably won't be shooting any new sets for quite sometime.
Anyway, I do plan to write regular updates, so keep following me. And who knows, maybe I will meet up with a few travelling SGs!
