I saw Silent Hill yesterday, and it's surprisingly good.

It's flawed, and requires some serious suspension of disbelief in a few places, but overall I felt like I got my money's worth. The script, which was written by Roger Avary, is very good, and very deep for this genre.

I guess hardcore fans of the games are all worked up about one thing or another (which is sort of the job of any hardcore fans of anything, right?) but since I only played a little bit of Silent Hill 2, I was able to go into it with an open mind and no expectations.

If you like creepy movies, I think you'll like it, and if you're turned off by excessive gore, you're safe here. It's a little gorey, but I never felt it was gratuitous.

If nothing else the fact that Uwe Boll didn't direct this movie should make it a thousand times better than the other video game flicks.
