Well, it's official: the last Saturday in April (aka the last day of April, period) will be spent with some good eats and then a trip down to Basin City to watch Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, and Bruce Willis raise some "hypernoir" chaos. Unanimous vote, actually, although Sid said "either", so I flipped a coin for her choice. (Heads for Hitchhiker's, tails for Sin.)

I'm homesick for MA, so I'm going to give you my worthless random opinion concerning Boston restaurants...

Best Italian...Artu's, north end

Best place to eat when you're drunk...News, Chinatown

Best sushi...Ginza, Chinatown

Best chowder/bisque...Union Oyster House or Legal Seafood, theater dist

Best bakery...Modern Bakery, north end

Sorry to co-op your journal, but I couldn't let you eat at a chain restaurant...

Dude, I'll make a suggestion too. What kind of restaraunt are you looking for? Also, DON"T go see movies at Fenway or Alewife. There are SOOOOO many people on their phones and getting up to walk around and whatnot. Those two theatres have definately ruined many a movie for me.

Movies I've seen in theaters so far this year:

So the new Rolling Stone's cover is of a certain Doctor of Journalism. I couldn't be happier to see that he's being respected by the magazine that is more gonzo than the rest.

Now onto the actual entry.

I want to be negative right now, but I can't. My anger isn't quite centered towards anything, and I only feel a little deprived of enjoyment, somewhat...

It's been a few weeks since Hunter S. Thompson passed himself on. I've been waiting, trying to find the right words to express my feelings on the Doctor of Journalism, the gonzo freak, and one of the funniest (and best) writers of the 20th century. He's done a lot to me -- not all of it good, I suppose -- as he's done to every...

I'd like to say today: Fuck The Academy.

Despite hitting several categories correctly this year (Jamie Foxx for Ray, Charlie/Michel for Eternal Sunshine, The Incredibles for Best Animated), they ended up bowing to the eternally disappointing Million Dollar Baby, handing Clint Eastwood Best Director and Best Picture, giving Hilary Swank the Best Actress Oscar, and generally pissing off any film geek in existence.

What...

So I'm actually starting to warm up to the vocals of "Cells" by The Servant. Most people know it as the song that's playing during the trailer for Frank Miller's Sin City.

Saw Constantine last night -- incredibly enjoyable movie. Keanu Reeves always manages to pick just the right movies to be in -- it's always something stylistic but has a good amount of...

So... I've been busy with my entertainment media the past few days. Been buying up one DVD or CD a day, at least. Or having stuff burned for me or downloading the same.

From last Tuesday to today, I've managed to end up hearing The Blood Brothers' Crimes, Mike Patton's General Patton vs. The X-ecutioners, The Mars Volta's Francis The Mute, Bright...

I'm only on track one of The Mars Volta's new album Frances The Mute, "cygnus... vismund cygnus", and it's the craziest thing I've ever heard. The playing on this thing... I mean, I can barely follow it. It's that fast, hard, difficult. This is like a shot back at The Dillinger Escape Plan's Miss Machine.

Winamp's telling me this song is 13 minutes...

Someone needs to release American Idiot in SACD 5.1 surround. Can you imagine what the fuck it would sound like? It'd be amazing to hear. There's so many bits and pieces that you feel could envelope you in this album -- imagine "Jesus Of Suburbia" with the chugging guitars going around you, Billy Joe's vocals screaming from the front center channel, Tre and the multi-tracked...
