yesterday went well. i biked a total of 24 miles, 13 to marcellus and 8 riding to town and back. i was a bit winded but my legs were not sore. in fact i felt like riding my bike back from marcellus if it wasn't for the fact that it's a rural highway with curves and hills and drunk rednecks and it was 1 o'clock in the morning.
well i should be down 60 pounds and wearing a 36" waist size by the end of this month. this has been so simple i should not have gotten back up to 290 in the first place.
things i have learned in the last 6 months
1) weight gain , for the most part, is the result of bad habits.
2) making small changes to your eating and exercise habits will shed the pounds.
3) keep moving a sedentary lifestyle will kill you.
4) small, gradual weight loss is what you want. you have to give your body time to adjust to the new weight. anything more that 3 pounds a week is probably too much
5) don't live and die by the scale. weigh yourself once or twice a month. go by how you look and feel not by how much you weigh exactly.
6) be honest with yourself
7) find things that work for you! try different exercises, activities etc. enjoying what you do is half of the battle.
yeah, i know i'm sounding like a " diet guru " but this is the second time i have had a major weight loss ( first time was 100 pounds after high school). the reality of it was i had just developed bad habits ( like a half a gallon of ice cream in one sitting 2-3 times a week) and they were killing me. i wanted to see what i could do so for 6 months last year i started experimenting and took note of what wokrd and what didn't until i had figured out my own routine. and what i discovered amazed me.

w00t. good for you.
i'm trying to attain better eating habits. not because i need them now, but because i'll thank myself later in the future. it's good to see you're able to stick with it.

since the start of this year i have tried to eat alot healthier.. i also gave up meat, dairy, eggs. i think your right on with most of what you said... only sugestion i would make which you might already do is substitute olive oil for every other oil... its great stuff and its actualy a good fat for you since your body does need fats... i also gave up virtual all frozen food which has helped me feel alot better.. the chemicals and sugar/fat subsitutes they use in that junk are just awfull for you..
